Last Intel i7 processor I got required paste. You should be ok with the stock Intel cooler. You have a Samsung SSD in your list for the boot drive so your WD HDD will work for storage. Fans are the same you just reverse them for intake or exhaust. Glad you got the video figured out.

To be honest with you, I have, over the years used probably hundreds if not thousands of different cable adaptors, 20-30 years ago there was a lot less standardisation so the adaptor of some kind was more often needed,

Yes they can cause issues at times, but as long as you look for a quality device, Avoid the cheap bargain and look for a major supplier, with good user review, you should find that they are little problem in use.

For your use I would suggest you look for a cabled solution, if possible, to provide a better connection from end to end

Is this your mobo..... ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gbs USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com

If so then it has all 4 port types. So all you would need is a cable to match the connection type of your monitor.

Again....you don't mention anything about a GPU. If you connect your monitor to the mobo.....you will be using the onboard GPU that's embedded on the CPU. Which is the Intel HD Graphics 530 and it's not that good.

    >>Thanks a lot for the positive feedback. Any incompatibility catch your eye. I saw where my 1st board did not have a DVI port for my new monitor and did not like adapter so have newer board.
