XMP Profile 1 and XMP Profile 2 on HP OMEN 25L GT11-0012na

I just upgraded my 8GB RAM to dual 32 GB - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600Mhz Dual Kit - but the RAM speed went down from 2666MHz to 2133MHz

Shop recommended I go into the BIOS and turn on XMP - two options in there: XMP Profile 1 and XMP Profile 2

I have read thought that tinkering under the hood carries a small risk of frying your CPU as it increases the voltage supply slightly and as such invalidates warranties and stuff ?

A small risk I heard and so far as I can gather one that people often take without breaking a sweat - but I'm slightly worried about risking breaking my lovely new gaming PC nonetheless

Performance is just as good as before - maybe slightly better (as I would hope) so I'm just weighing up the pros and cons of turning on XMP but figured I would seek some advice here before experimenting with new BIOS settings ?

Primary use for this PC is for graphic design (which it handles comfortably)

    Still on Windows 10

Normal specs on motherboards tell you how fast you can speed your ram up to before xmp has to be enabled, I could not find this at HP in your link, for example my X570 has to be xmp enabled over 3200mhz.

You could notch the speed up back to 2666mhz without xmp, if it does not like it it will just reset bios to default, then you know you will need xmp for 2666mhz & over.

Yes the information on this PC on the website isn't very comprehensive - and it arrived without any documentation so what am I supposed to do?

I have heard from some online sources I searched for that the HP Gaming PC's are designed for incompatibility - which is extremely disappointing if true

Is there a setting in the BIOS where I can just set the speed - would I find that through the option to configure my own settings ? I'm not really comfortable doing this

    - - - Updated - - -

I can see where to configure settings there manually - but I'm not comfortable steaming in and messing around under the hood

The default setting seemed to be set at 1067MHz ? which is 2133MHz doubled up (I don't know if the 1067MHz I'm seeing there is referring to each RAM card ? I'm inclined to think that it is and if both are clocking at 1067MHz (out of sync) then that's the equivalent of 2133MHz overall ?

And if so - does that mean I have to set the speed to half of what I ideally want it to be ? it's very unclear

Normally the setting to change the speed is in the 1st settings you see not the sub settings you click into.

Can you photo the bios page with the ram settings, so we can point to the right setting, as you would click onto the setting then use +- to change the speed up or down?

In my settings were you adjust ram you see stock setting of 2400 & my 3200 setting which you just move up or down then save

Is this the only settings, as in my picture you see the ram speed of both channels, not in advanced settings.?

What does custom profile do, also?

Have you also done a bios reset on install?

Did you put 2 identical ram stick in on the upgrade

What is the CL rating of the old ram compared to the new ram.

I am well aware of HP being awkward with anything other than OEM/QVL ram also!

This is all I could find - don't know if there are other settings elsewhere

Custom lights up all the settings below and allow me to select various settings from drop down menus

So when you select xmp1 & xmp2, what does the frequency change to, does it change it on both ram settings or just 1?
