The install had issues anyway and now is in an endless reboot loop, luckily I'd only put that m.2 drive in last month so was able to just boot to my older install on one of my other drives until I can be bothered to reload the m.2

    Hi,
Never remembered you were on haswell-e 5960
Which bios are you on 2101 or newer/ newest beta bios ?
I tried the newer broadwell-e bios it cranks the vccio cpu 1.05 voltage way too high on x99 still on haswell-e cpu at about 1.256v

Most people I've read say the absolute max vccio cpu 1.05 voltage is 1.15v
You can see it in bios or hwinfo free
VCCIO pch 1.05 voltage stays +- 1.05 as it should along with vccio cpu 1.05 voltage should do.
The spike happens just increasing the memory frequency past 2133 default speed or using xmp profiles.

Anyway just thought I would mention the issue with the newer bios which could fry haswell-e and could also take out you board too.

2101 is the last BIOS for Haswell-e. Everything after that is for Broadwell.

    Hi,
MS is including the microcode updates in the os now so newer bios in not necessary anymore
As Steve also suggested to me a while back go back to haswell-e bios 2101 could be different on a ROG board it's the bios which added X-series chip compatibility which is broadwell-e 6700/..... chips.
2101 was released for my asus sabertooth on 1/6/2016 it's always worked just fine.

I don't know what frequency you run you ram on if default it should be 2133 and you might not have the issue but it's easily checked :)
