How to Benchmark External USB 3.0 Hard Drives?

I suspect the VIA USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard are not performing as well as the Intel USB 3.0 ports with my 1T & 2T Seagate Portable USB 3.0 Expansion Drives.

What's the best way of benchmarking external USB 3.0 hard drives to troubleshoot their connections?

I like using ATTO Download ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.46 | techPowerUp

There are some other ones such as HD Tune http://www.hdtune.com/ and probably a few others. In Windows 10 if you copy/paste it should show the transfer rate while it is copying.
