I've watched the you tube build. I see many want to make sure I can do this that's great thank you ---But, I've done a small amount of research the hardest thing for most I think is the fear between the ears how was your first build? I'm pretty good at putting things together I can do this with help and I will have the manuals here with the parts to help too. Another wise reason to do this is instead of up grading every few years for thousand just up grade a part or two. You will probably see a different side of me on this thread the last thread was shear confusion for me as you know.---To let bunnyj know I'm not building an OEM this will be more specialized and essenbe has the lead on this.--

Peter, I think the concern here is that if you have a decent amount of hardware experience, building your own computer is not that difficult. However you do not have that experience. As simple as building a computer may sound, one mistake can ruin components and waste a lot of your money. That is what no one wants to happen and the reason for the concern. You should appreciate that.

As for me taking the lead, I have built more than my share of computers and have a very good idea of hardware. However, you will get a better computer if you make this a community project. There are a lot of people here with a lot of hardware experience who have a different approach than I do. That is a good thing for you. You will get the advantage of many people's experience and can make a much more informed decision. I would suggest you accept others concerns and solicit their ideas about components for your build. There is a tremendous number of computer builders on this forum. Listening to all of them and their different ideas will benefit you greatly. In the end, it is your money and your decision of which components you purchase. But, by listening to others ideas and doing your own research, you will be better able to make informed decisions. I would also suggest you do as suggested by @swarfega in post #9 and use PC Parts Picker to assemble your components.

The most important thing here is to consider what others suggest and do your own research. As far as I am concerned, picking parts and doing the research is the fun part of building. The actual build, not so much.

I apologize if I offended anyone it was not my intent sorry bunnyj I miss read your post I admit I did read it a little fast . However my second sentence was a thank you for people making sure I can do this ,for watching my back so to speak. When I started the 1st thread I never once dreamed I would have the desire to learn to build, but I think I got bit by the computer bug and the personalities of the folks I met on the earlier thread had a lot to do with me doing this. Remember when MM jumped in and gave me a different option for MBAM I read the info then decided to stay with simricks advice and others as well, I thanked her for offering me an alternative. I do want people to jump in and give suggestions actually that is one of the best ways to learn. You mention swarfega and parts picker, when I read the post I instantly clicked on the link and with in minutes I had an activation email and was browsing around their site and I have it saved for when the time comes and that was about 7:30-8:00 am pt so I took swarfega advice before leaving the post. I also never thought of having some one here physically helping me on my first build and a few people mentioned that ,so I took notice of that knowing those folks know way more than I, and I think it's a great idea for my first build and I will take that advice and look around. I guess I worded things wrong. I hope I explained myself enough so there's no hard feelings and we all can move on and have fun talking and learning about building.

Peter, no problems. Nobody is mad. It just looks like you are going too fast sometimes. You say you watch movies and office work. Do you encode movies? How often do you play games and what kind of games do you play? Most of the on board graphics will run a 1080 monitor or a TV. The only reason you would need a high end graphics card is for gaming. Remember, a high end graphics card can be the most expensive component you have to buy.

Building a computer is not rocket science. Depending on your mechanical aptitude, your experience may vary.

I do recommend you know what you want your system to be. Such as a basic or advanced system, air/water cooled, single/dual graphics cards, how much memory you need (not desire) type of storage HHD or SSD. Power supplies power you need. (there are calculators for that). Not to mention motherboard type size kind nor processor type size kind. Then of course the case.

Sounds bad right? Well it's not really that complicated.

Its just 1st things 1st.

OK, I use my wii I don't really play games on the computer I do want to look forward a little bit and build something that will be able to be still a little advanced or at least equal to the up and coming changes in a 2 or 3 yrs -your right I don't need a super high end graphics card. I don't encode movies probably because I don't know what it is yet just put it on my list to research I might want to learn? I do go to fast sometimes simrick and TC and others have brought me to a halt a few times.

One other thing I might add is.. do you want to Overclock your processor(CPU)?

Would you prefer Intel or AMD?

The honest answer to your questions Conners is I don't have an answer yet. I think your the third set of questions this is my first build so I need to do a ton of research and get advice first. I am mechanical so I know I can do this on that end, I didn't know there was a water cooled system could you explain that a little please.
