Has Speccy been validated to make sure it indicates the correct temperatures? If so, where is this validation documented?
I do not know. I compare it to my Bios readings and it is accurate for me.

Fires, do you have some reason to think the temps are not correct?

No, I have no evidence that Speccy indicates incorrect temps. I was just wondering how the vendors of temp measuring apps verify that their product actually show the actual temps of the CPU and motherboard. I hope they submit their apps to Intel and MB manufactures to test if these apps are reliable.

Speccy does report inaccurate temps on certain CPUs. My AMD APU has the temp reported wrong in Speccy, but SpeedFan shows the correct temperature.

How do you verify that SpeedFan shows correct temps? Has AMD certified that SpeedFan is reliable? The manufacturers of CPUs are the only people who can know for sure what the actual temps of their CPUs are under various load conditions.

speccy and core temp comparison, both use the same thermal resistors .

My laptop, although it incorrectly identified the CPU. It's a 4810 MQ

Noctua U12-S cooler on stock Intel i5-2500; Noctua NF-F12 intake and 500 rpm Antec exhaust. All BIOS fan controls set to maximum quiet mode.

    Stress tests:

Intel XTU: hottest core reaches 63
Prime 95 version 28.5.1.0: hottest core reaches 67 on all 3 tests

    Ambient temps constant at 27.

Speccy pic below is at idle
