Yes, I would rather live with the current system than rush into buying parts for the heck of it. And next year I hope to put aside about 30-40 a month to save up for a real good Intel processor and a great motherboard for it. Like this:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A

Should be a great system! I'm thinking about building my next computer instead of buying OEM . It won't be for a while though. The wife wasn't happy about me buying the system I have now. She changed her mind when I told her I was donating my old computer to our son. He had a old laptop and the desktop I gave him was a big step up.
I find that a DIY PC to be the best because you picked the parts that go into it. Oh and I use this site to help simplify the process: System Build - PCPartPicker An AMD build would be great for everyday use and much cheaper in the long run. Intel does make better processors but the price is much higher.
I like starting with a basic computer and upgrading it one or two parts at a time. When I'm done it's a completely different computer . By the time I have it they way I want it I'm ready to start over. I usually will give my old computers to someone in my family. Before I do I delete all my programs and secure erase all my personal files. The computer I have now I have done just about everything I can do to it. I replaced the HDD with a SSD. I've added two extra HDDs. I've replaced the DVD drive with a Blu-Ray drive. And I've upgraded the sound card and video card from the ones that are on board. HP wouldn't recognize it. :)
