Realbench has been my standard candle.

With 1709, microcode 84h on 8700k, I saw a decrease in performance in Realbench with Spectre protection enabled. Overall it was 3% with about 8% in the photo editing.

I am now running 1803 build 17133.73 with all the spectre and Meltdown patched enabled (verified in powershell and in-spectre) with the same 84h 8700k microcode and I see no impact at all.

I hope this is real and not a bug that is circumventing the Spectre protection.

Its real. The disk i/o still suffers in iops.

I compared the GDI (CDM) benchmark scores, with Spectre enabled, to ones I performed in 1709 and they have improved on this benchmark by 15% (Spectre disabled scores are the same). Microsoft must have put some effort into improving GDI performance with Spectre patch enabled in 1803. I think this is why the Realbench scores improved.

Hi, I think I have read somewhere that a preview Win 10 install will become, though updates, an RTM version. If so great. But, again, if so, will there be a unique key that can be used to reinstall it on a clean partition on the same computer if...
