Practically a must if you want to play with BIOS/CMOS and need to reset many times. I used a switch from an old case front panel. Switch, wires contacts, all there already. My previous MB had that switch right on it, covered by see thru plastic against accidental press.

have you used hardware monitor or CPUZ to see the actual top off voltage you use when stressing because you may have it cranked to high

Yes I use XTU for the stress test, monitor it with HWMonitor, also have CPUz too. Temps never get over mid 80's. Not sure where I can control that Load line voltage Max limit .....I'll look....

1st thing I noticed Cliff you have XMP off on your memory ....mine is on. Your Voltage is a tad lower at 1.450, mine is at 1.470 in my bios. I'll keep digging around.

I don't need or use XMP as I have Memory Try it(special to MSI's Click BIOS) which has different memory settings for different controllers, as you see Corsair Vengeance use Samsung controller.

You may need to use XMP, set that first, THEN adjust your base clock and voltages.
XMP sets not only your RAM speed, and timings, but also will make changes to BCLK too., and; I#m not sure now, but maybe your ratio mode too.

I'm getting their...slowly Cliff, got the Max voltage down from 1.5v to 1.4v so far, that is what Tommy was worried about the most. Before I had never adjust that spec, was on Auto.

As far as my XMP setting ....its still on ...have not changed it....yet.

I have not seen XMP make changes to the bclk or ratio.

But changing the bclk will definately change the ram speed.

It has on my board, it changes BCLK from 100.500 to 100.000 every time.
But I think XMP is just a "safe" overclock on my PC MATE.
The Memory Try It! setting is the exact same setting as XMP, but leaves the other settings alone, end with BCLK set to 100.500, it ramps up from 3000MHz to 3015MHz.
I tried 3200MHz, but either cannot boot into Windows, or when it can, Hyper-V hates it, and will not open a VM, as VMs run mostly in memory But the rest of my system will run ok.

Going to give up. Got Sammy mad at me early this morning, almost was late giving her breakfast LoL Nothing worse than a mad Doberman puppy.

Across the net, the average is 4.7 sometimes 4.8 so you're doing really well
With mine, it seems I was extremely lucky, but I also did a lot of research on overclocking, and asked Steve & Doug tons of questions, and advice.

upgrading to official Win 10 when released
I have a desktop with Win 8.1 and I am planning to put on it Win 10 TP. When the official Win 10 is released, will I be able to just update the desktop with it without reinstalling all the applications? I presume so but I would like to verify, thank...
