Asus Vivobook 15 M513U 16gb ram upgrade
What's the best fastest ram for this laptop thanks UG 4gb to 16gb
What's the best fastest ram for this laptop thanks UG 4gb to 16gb
From Vivobook 15 M513 (AMD Ryzen 5000 Series) - Tech Specs|Laptops For Home|ASUS Global
your computer has 4GB DDR4 on board so you can add 8GB to a total of 12GB.
Download, extract and run hwinfo. It's a portable, doesn't need to install.
Go to the memory specs.
Buy 8GB, same brand, same model, same speed etc
Why not 16gb
It depends on the memory soldered onto your laptop.
If you have 4GB soldered, you can put 8GB in the memory slot. For a maximum total of 12GB.
If you have 8GB soldered, you can put 8GB in the slot, for a total of 16GB.
Check the exact part number of the Asus Vivo. In this online store, there are two part numbers: M513 and M513UA-L1350T (the maximum speed seems to be DDR4-25600 (PC4-3200). Not ecc:

Asus Laptop RAM Memory Compatible Upgrades | Offtek
You can also go to the Crucial website with the correct part number of your laptop to purchase the memory:
ASUS Vivobook 15 M513 (AMD Ryzen 5000 Series) | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial UK
ASUS VivoBook 15 M513UA-L1350T | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial UK
Crucial says 16gb from your link I have 4 GB soldered plus 4gb as far as I know
Yes, Oftek also says 16GB.
But the Asus page for your laptop says what I said in my first post, a maximum of 16GB if 8GB is soldered + 8GB in the slot, or a maximum of 12GB if 4GB is soldered + 8GB in the slot.
You can try getting 16GB from Crucial, it's cheaper than Oftek.
If you don't want to have memory issues. don't mix memory types, brands etc. Find what you have and buy same brand, type and speed.
That is not a great spec if buying new as it does no have thunderbolt sub specs.
Even link above is a bit disingenous when it refers to ssd expansion slot as it says "including used". This means it only has one ssd (nvme) slot - sure you can expand storage with bigger ssd but you still only have one physical drive.
If you already have pc, above is true - you can add 8GB to existing on board RAM.
