What is your opinion on these cases?

    Hello,

I am finding a case to use with B550M motherboard, RX 6600 or RTX 4060 GPU.

    ASUS A21
MONTECH SKY ONE LITE (update: decided to skip this because front panel cannot wash, have connectors and light)
    TECWARE FORGE M

Which case would you choose? Thanks

I have to be honest, I think it is very difficult to use someone else's opinion on a case. So much depends upon your needs:

Do you need to support lots of HDDs?
Does it need to have room for a big water cooling system?
How many fans do you need the case to support?
Will you need to support a very large GPU?
    What appeals to you visually?
    etc.

Then there are the performance concerns:

How good is the cooling in the case? If you are going to run a very powerful GPU and a high end CPU, that would be important.

My typical advice for something like this:

Get a list of cases that you find appealing (as you seem to have already done).
Research - a lot! Watch build videos on YouTube, check the specs to make sure it will accommodate all the components you select, see what reviewers say about how good the cooling in that case is, etc.

    They look pretty much basic.

They have cases that you literally could take apart, and is full metal ( Magnesium ) or some sorta alloy. I mean things you could alter like Kinex stylistic.

If you get a full case you might as well take any case, from a Intel Power Mac to a Power-Users case from the early to late 2000's. and just remove the hardware.

I honestly do not believe cases have advanced at all. People could make the claims about air-flow and weight but they look and do the same just side-by-side. From heat-transfer, to anti-drop, to plastic. Honestly not the biggest thing.

I know it might look hard but honestly the case is not going to hamper performance outside of air-flow and compression.
You should be worried about things like timing replacing your liquid-metal-cooling substance, to actually doing a good job on
your heat-transfer, or even installing nutjob things like air-conditioner units. Yes you can liquid-cool your PC with a mini-AC
unit inside your Desktop. Even to anti-shock ( as with power mac cases made out of Aluminum in terms of cooling and costs
but man I get electrified ( feel that buzz ) .

As others have said, case choice is personal.

For example... I bought a Cooler Master ATCS 840 in 2008, and I'm still using it.
That's how much I like it.
It's 100% aluminum, it can handle any amount of hardware, and the motherboard tray comes completely out of the case.

The only really important things when choosing a case....

It has dust filters on all the intakes, and it fits your current hardware, and possibly any additions you might come up with in the future.

Another thing: I've found that what might be the ideal case today, may no longer be so ideal in the future.

Just one personal example: I built a desktop PC in 2021. I went a little nuts on this build. 128GB RGB lit RAM, 10 RGB cooling fans, 4 LED light strips, lighting on MB, several 8TB HDDS, 2.5" SSDs and NVMe SSDs. Naturally, to show all that off I wanted lots of glass and it had to be a good sized case to accommodate all the drives.

Now, I have relocated all the spinning disk drives to external storage, so the system has only SSDs for the internal storage. Also, I found that all the overhead for the various RGB lighting software really bugs me, so I want to get rid of it. With no spinning disks and RGB lighting I won't need a heavy fishbowl for a case any longer and that also eliminates the need to have 10 case fans. So, I now find myself looking into much smaller cases with few or no glass panels. Don't get me wrong, all the lighting looks cool, but I'm a bit of neat freak so I find myself having to do a very thorough cleaning of the system both inside and out once a month to clear every possible speck of dust. It's a lot of work. I find myself now putting an emphasis on pure functionality.

The point is simply this: Think long and hard about what your needs are and try to anticipate as post as possible what direction you might want to go in the future.
