Does MSI BIOS Smart Fan Mode Override Any Temp Set Points

Just experimenting. This is my first MSI motherboard I've owned.

It seems no matter what cpu fan temp set point I set, smart fan mode overrides it. Here's a couple of screen shots.

Here's the set points I have set.. What good it does. I've searched here and google with no good understanding.

I don't have an AIO on the pump header, just another 120mm fan.
All fans are 120mm with speeds from 600 ~ 1700 rpms. Front 2 fans are intake along with cpu from front while rear fan is exhaust.

I have read that article thanks for the link!
I can't duplicate his settings as he has an AIO connected to the pump header which would account for his lower fan speeds. Also his screen shots shows him using the CPU core temp but says to use CPU temp instead.

I agree! It is a very good article. On his screen shots CPU temp is shown as CPU core temp while on my board I don't have CPU core temp like in the article.

I can adjust all fans except the CPU fan. I can't make it go below the 900+ RPM's.
No worries though as I was curious, experimenting and learning.

Are you sure your CPU fan can go below 900 RPMs? I've got a ThermalRight Assasin x90 SE Cooler, and the least it goes it's 1200 RPMs... In any case, depending the size of the heatsink you got there, going below 900 RPM's could make your CPU overheat for no reason... Probably just leave it at that limit for teh sake of a stable system...
