Hopefully you get reimbursed, assuming you bought that cex one then you should assuming they are legitimate i have seen some computer builders on youtube that use them all the time so they must be somewhat reliable.
CEX = Computer Exchange... There's 1 or 3 in nearly every City here in the UK.

You didn't say how fast your RAM is. The new CPU does not support as fast RAM as the old one.

    Intel Core i3-3240T DDR3 1333/1600
    Intel Core i5-2500 DDR3 1066/1333

If your RAM is 1600 then set it to a lower speed in the BIOS.
Thanks, MisterEd I have just seen your input in regards to CPU/RAM speed... What would you suggest

In the BIOS can you set the RAM speed? If you can use the old CPU and set the speed to 1333 or default. Then try again with the new CPU. This is not a guarantee to make any difference but is to eliminate one possible problem.

Try as I might, I can't see anyway to edit/reduce the RAM speed?

In your BIOS look for Memory Frequency in Ai Tweaker.
By default it should be set to Auto. I don't see XMP so Auto may be the same thing.
You can try setting that to a lower speed. Your choices are 800MHz, 1066MHz, and 1333MHz

You could check in bios under ai teaker that memory support is set to auto. I doubt it is necessary. I have had at least 4 lga 1155 mobos and none of them needed bios fiddling for ram.

Some of them need a bios upgrade to suport 3rd gen cpu, but that is not the case here because the op was already running a 3rd gen cpu ( i3-3240t )and then went backwards to a 2nd gen cpu ( i5-2500 ).

Thanks, SIW2 for the heads up I never realised I had in fact downgraded, instead of upgraded so I need to look for an i5- three something is that right

Yes. The s at the end indicates lower power consumption. You also get pcie 3 support with those quad core i5 3rd gen cpus.

It should perform pretty well with a decent 3rd gen s cpu. There are a couple of usb3 ports ( light blue ) and a couple of 6gb sata ports ( dark blue ) for sata ssd.

    How about this one
    Intel Core i5-3470S 2.90GHz Socket LGA1155 Processor CPU (SR0TA)
    Or this one
Intel Core i5-3570 3.40 GHz 3rd gen Quadcore socket 1155
