You do what AndreTen says or you take the tomshardware ranking and other rankings if you want and look up the price of the m.2 500gb referenced in the rankings. You will find your happiness in m.2 pcie 4.0 or 3.0.
I was told to get WD Blue SN570 2TB M.2 SSD instead if I'm just going to use my PC for gaming and internet, what do you guys think? They say I won't notice a preformance increase for video games or anything else.
WD Black SN850X will be better in games than samsung 980 pro, in real world gamer test 3dmark it was better. It also has a game mode which is either on automatically, on or off. WD will improve this game mode with firmware if it has not already been done. In several cases the WD beats the samsung 980 pro with more or less significant differences.
You can buy a 2TB WD Black SN850X, and a 500gb samsung pro, or a 500gb Kingston KC3000, or the crucial p5 plus 500gb, or WD_Black SN850 500gb. All are pcie 4.0 x4.
The WD Blue SN570 2TB is an m.2 pcie 3.0 x4 cacheless dram eighteenth in the tomshardware ranking. There is no gaming benchmark in the tomshardware review.
WD SN570 is a good drive, also has stable overall reviews, but it's not in the same category as Samsung 980 pro.
And it is true, that you probably wouldn't notice the difference.
So why I've advised 980 pro? Currently there is such a small price difference between a good average SSD (WD SN570=130€) and some top SSD's (samsung 980 pro, Kingston KC3000 = 170€ and maybe WD SN770) that I would buy one of the top drives, if top speed and reliability would be important to me.
Buy one of the top drives that has the best price. In Europe those are currently Samsung 980 Pro and Kingston KC3000. If you get WD SN850X for the same price, then flip a coin ;-)
Second options are WD SN570 (PCIe 3), WD SN770 (PCIe 4) (better) or Samsung EVO 970 Plus (a bit more expensive)
I guess prices in Belgium are similar to those in Germany:

Thank you everyone for your help! It is really much appreciated. After much consideration I have decided to go for WD Black SN850X 2TB M.2 SSD as gaming drive and as OS drive the Samsung 980 500GB M.2 SSD.
Total cost: € 276,85
