EMI Shields for cables

Generally, people just get shielded cables, but mostly, folks just separate the power cables and the signal cables.
Power cables can affect signal cables especially if they get wrapped around each other.

Unless you have a 50,000W radio station down the block, or there's a HAM Radio operator near by, that's transmitting far above the legal limit... I doubt you're getting interference from an outside source.
It's most likely interference from a power cord.

But the ferrite shields won't hurt anything.

Manufacturers have already gone through extensive measures to reduce or stop EMF/EMI from radiating from the device. You cannot stop EMF/EMI/RF that occurs in our environment from space, the planet, mammals.

Yes, it is a very real entity.
You can look at it from many points of view.

I wouldn't worry about it for your computer. Seriously.
Holding your cellphone to your head and/or climbing a cellphone tower on a frequent basis is another story.
