Well, the MSI Pro is the exact same setup as the Asus Prime but with a couple better specs, and $60 cheaper today with Newegg rebate.

She's smiling at me. Sorry honey!
The MSI Pro is a solid board. I have one in one of my systems and it's been a top notch performer. Have fun!

Msi Boards are really not the same Bios even if it appears to be.
Asus is a little more easier to work around but when you learn each brands subnames to some of the features you'll be good to go
I stopped using MSI Boards long ago i had one blow up on me and that was enough to move on.
Been with Asus and Asrock ever since / I feel Asrock and Asus Boards have the easiest Bios mapping of them all

I understand what you are saying and agree - to a degree. The Asus BIOS is like an old pair of jeans. We know where everything is so they fit just right.
I just wanted to know that all the typical setting were there (somewhere), and it was not some pared down consumer BIOS or something.

I had an Asus board blow up on me - it was a P4800C I think. A bad ground in the PCB! Asus was great - they replaced the board - free shipping both ways, and with a new revision (that corrected the ground issue). But I stuck with Asus after that and never regretted it. One bad board does not define a company I say.

I'll give MSI a try and report back if I find anything wrong or annoying!

I have blown up both an ASUS and a MSI board. They are both good, stuff happens

MSI is a top tier motherboard manufacture like Asus. On their top end boards they are going to have all the bells and whistles.

Realistically this is a dying viewpoint though and as long as you buy an enthusiast grade board from any brand then you don't really have anything to worry about.

Top Tier in no particular order.

    Asus
    MSI
    EVGA
    Gigabyte
    Biostar
    ASRock

both ASRock and Biostar used to be considered low end/mid tier but they have seasoned imo as they have both been around for a while now.

The landscape overall has changed too its not really about any one product being better than the other anymore its about what can it offer me X vs Y where there is not really much to differ in 2022 because the landscape is pretty consistent now between manufactures.

The mantra holds as long as you buy into the price point you are looking for then the parts are going to reflect that regardless of manufacture.
What i mean is if you want a board that has all the features then you buy into that price point. Gone are the days where one manufacture towered over the rest.

There is only so many ways to skin a cat just buy the product you like the look of the best all this other stuff is just hype train at the end of the day.
all manufactures offer high end boards and as long as you go with a reputable manufacture then they are all suitable, all manufactures have problems so you may want to consider this as well when making a decision.

all the rest of the hype train is exactly that stuck on the hype train and these influencers have gotten good at conditioning the overall perceived standpoints of consumers like manufacture bias or platform bias when really its all just to do with product placement because that is how they get paid and also how they get free computer parts.

at the end of the day all manufacturers are on a pretty even trajectory tbh and computers are standardized with a lot of the little stuff between brands being exactly that little and insignificant.

I guess the main take away here is know where you buy in and that determines how good your parts are.

Thank malneb. I agree with your opinion.

The main point was to get a look at an MSI BIOS just to see what it looks like in there.
I shop on specs-to-price and have little interest in what you get with the high end gamer boards. I'm not going to be rockin' dual 4090's or anything.
I need to know where to go in and shut off the RGB aoura stuff!

I would look at it this way....,The input you receive will dictate your choice as you know many people on here are fanboys/fangirls of many products but it's the true unbiased opinion that stands out. @Malneb has basically planted the seed most people need to hear, I would basically not worry too much about which brand is superior rather how easy it is for you to navigate and correct problems that arise in the Bios and for peace of mind knowing you made solid choices.
If RGB isn't something you really don't wish to have both brands have top tier boards with no RGB something to consider if you're looking in that direction that also will save on cost it's your call though.

Yes, it's been my experience that every board manufacturer will have an "entry level" board for whatever chipset we are working on. These boards will have all the features of the chipset and not much more, usually.

But every board manufacturer is free to customize their designs. Each step up in the boards they offer usually adds certain features to appeal to the particular target market. Sometimes because of the limitations in the processor and chipset design they have to remove some functions to add others. That's why it is important to compare specs carefully.

But I've always felt I got good performance and value buying the entry level boards.
Like I said, short of running dual graphics cards, or having dual LAN ports, or 27 RGB headers, I don't see the benefit in spending more unless you need that stuff.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input. It all helped to make a decision. The MSI board is on it's way.
