Is Ryzen 5600g is worth upgrade from 2600g

I am using this config PC from 5 years.
Asus B350 Mb, Ryzen 2400g cpu, 24 Gb Ram.

I use it for more for surfing web, play old school games and watch movies. Strictly there is no need to upgrade this system but I was thinking about a new box with same RAM and PSU but a new Gigabyte Auros 450 M mobo, Ryzen 5600g cpu and a RGB case.

I am seeing on web that 5600g is 40% more powerful than 2400g system. This new config is about 330$ cost.

    is upgrade worth ?

Not at all but I want to feel fresh with the looks and performance. And also since its been 5 years, I am expecting that board would spoil one day and should get new one. Its not a rule that board spoil but it happened with me in past few times.

I am surprised you had a problem with a mobo. It is quite rare.

The Passmark speed for the 2400G is 8726 and for the 5600G is 19845. Also, the graphics power will be better with the 5600G. You could offset part of the cost of the 5600G by selling the 2400G. You may or may not notice the difference, but the 5600G is in the list of processors approved by Microsoft for use with Windows 11 and the 2400G is not.
I bought a 5600G on ebay secondhand for about £145 to replace a 2600 which I sold for about £ 97. I also bought a 3200G secondhand and all three are going strong.
I have just looked on ebay UK and there are 2 5600G's, new going for £125 and £129, surely the prices in the USA are not higher?
Check if your motherboard can work with the 5600G, there might be a BIOS update.

Sounds like it worth getting the 5600g and selling the 2400g in that case.

Is ther any point changing the mobo if the current one will work with the 5600g ?

Ryzen 5600g is in support list of my mobo Asus B350 plus. But problem is that my board is missing the metal shield that support IO ports on the back side. So I am using it carefully without putting too much pressure while inserting inputs. I am thinking about 2 boards - Asrock B450M Steel Legend or Gigabyte B450 DS3H to replace Asus B350 plus. These boards are around 8,500 to 9000 INR. If I opt for B550 board, I should spend extra 2000 Rupees. I don't see big difference between 450 and 550 chipset because I do not use extension cards like graphics or sound to use the PCIE 4.

I would buy boxed cpu only. Not on ebay. 5600g is 14,000 INR on amazon and other online stores.
I gone through reviews to see that normal old games don't find big difference but modern games will have difference on 5600g. I only play old games but I am excited to have double or triple speed with 5600g over 2400g. Yes it got win 11 support but I hate win 11. I tested it dozen times and always found bugs. Stick to 10 for now.

Though how much speed 5600g apu is above 2400g, i have been thinking about future proof pc. 5600g is still limited to pcie 3 and ddr 4 ram. A little more budget of 10k on it will get me latest Ryzen 7600 APU (not yet released , rumored to be in Jan 2023 at a price of 19k INR, supporting mobo is 17k INR). If i choose that i must buy ddr 5 ram with extra cost of 8k. If i change cabinet too , another 5k. Total about 45k for new generation cpu.

    5600g setup = 27k INR
    7600 setup = 45k INR

Thinking too much about what to do and stopped thinking lol.

    Finally bought Ryzen 5600g cpu with Gigabyte B450 Aorus M mobo for 23,000 INR ( 270 $ )
Previous mobo Asus B350 lost metal panel supporting the IO ports 2 years back. From then I was using it so delicately. But lately sound ports were stopped working randomly. So I thought to change mobo only at first but later decided to get new CPU too.

5600g graphics are better than 2400g. For normal use, 5600g is a bit faster than 2400g but not as much as 3 times faster like somebody told before.

Overall this is good purchase. I kept old DDR 4 ram on new mobo. Saved money.
