CPU Maxes at 2.18 GHz With Max Frequency Setting in Power Option 4GHz

    Sounds like BIOS or power plan issue to me. I suggest you reset the BIOS to default. Then check without using QT creator. Once you get it operating normal, then try it again. Also a good cleaning will help, you need good airflow.

    I'm thinking I'm going to try updating the BIOS to see if it helps lower those boost temperatures. Anybody think this might be worthwhile or not? As per here the mobo supports DualBIOS which IIRC on my old Gigabyte board removed the risk of flashing the BIOS since there's a backup BIOS available in case something goes wrong. Is this correct?
    Anxious to see if this makes things better.

    I figured out the problem with the max processor frequency. I was using the power saver plan. I made a new plan based on the high performance plan and now the max processor frequency works.

    Also I updated the BIOS and the super extreme CPU boost spikes are gone. Things can still get a little hot under lightly threaded workloads but nothing like before. Max ~75 C.
