Advice on new memory

Hi all.

I'm in the market for new memory, since I can't get my Gskill RAM to run at its rated speed (3200 MHz RAM, only runs at 2933. Otherwise all sorts of weirdness occurs, including boot errors/trashed Windows installation. I have four of these sticks that are like this, on two different motherboards.) I am thusly not looking to buy Gskill RAM again.

I usually use Mushkin, but they are kinda hard to find these days. Can anyone recommend a decent, reliable RAM that might work in my mobo? I'm thinking of using 3600 RAM and clocking it at 3200, just to make sure the darn stuff will work.

Just a brand will be fine. I was looking for some personal experience with it if any of you have a good brand or model to recommend.

That's odd to me that you are having problems with G.Skill memory. That's been my go to memory for everything for the last 10 years or so.

Corsair, Kingston, Crucial are all pretty solid brands.

There is something on win raid forum about ryzens and 2933 max. iirc it is the cpu, or maybe the bios, not a problem with the ram. Cant remember which thread, you would need to search for it.

Just being honest here why would you use a 470-f for a 5800x ?
Problem could be simple the board isn't made for that ram as far as i know early ryzen gens 1 and 2 are very bad when it comes to memory speeds.
I am thinking your board is doing more holding back then your ram you would be better off swapping for a x570 and see if the ram behaves buying more ram will cost more then a board that could possible be the reason.

I have a similar issue to yours. My cosair 3600mhz can only run at 300mhz speed using 4 sticks. I found out that my motherboard
not able to support this rams at speed higher than 3000mhz at 4 sticks. Have you try running with 2sticks ?

I honestly think it's the platform he is on early Ryzen was a mess B350 B450 x370 x470 @Dude don't you have this board ???

[PSA] Your Ryzen 3000 CPU may not be completely stable with DDR4-3600 memory on XMP, even when you can boot into Windows just fine. : Amd

I think it's his board honestly early ryzen boards sucked that's why i never tried much with my Daughters first 1600x with a Asrock B350Pro i ended up giving that cheapo set up to my family member that needed something to get going.
Memory would never go to the numbers rated i got like 2933mhz or some jazz and it was 3200mhz ram so anything non X570 i skipped.

A fair point. The X470 is the motherboard from my old 2700X system and it is nearly brand new. I picked up the 5800X on a sweet Black Friday sale, but I can't afford to upgrade the mobo yet. An X570 or better (when they make it) is in the works, but will have to wait for a good sale. In the meantime, I'm sort of stuck with what I have.

To all, thank you for the pointers. I will check out the links that some of you provided and see what I can come up with regarding memory. I might just upgrade the mobo as suggested and see if the RAM will work properly in it. It's really weird, because the RAM I bought is on the mobo's QVL. This is the first time that I have ever bought memory recommended by the motherboard's manufacturer. I find it sort of comical that it doesn't work right.
