311 - CPU fan not detected, but it's running

When I start my HP Pavillion model 550-035z I get a halt telling me that my processor fan was not detected and I need to hit F1 to continue. I looked, the fan is there and operating fine. I tried to find a BIOS setting to ignore the warning but it wasn't there. How do I solve this issue?
    Thanks,

    Hi,

Since you are living nearly "in" the ocean, it could be some salt corrosion on the connector header, disconnect and reconnect the power header a couple times.

If your machine shows advanced corrosion signs, refrain from touching it until you backed up your data.

Thanks for your answer, I have already removed and reinstalled the CPU fan plug, it's a good connection.

So I checked the hardware monitor as you suggested and found nothing relating to ignoring the fan warning. But I did make a weird change that seems to have fixed the problem, and I'm not sure why. In the advanced bios setting there was a switch to turn off the num lock key on startup and I turned it to leave the num lock off on startup. That seemed to have fixed it and it no longer halts on startup asking me to press F1. I don't know what that has to do with anything but it sure worked. Thanks for your help.

Well, after roughly 20 starts, it is back again asking for F1 to boot.

Sounds like the bug that seems to plague Asus socket 775 motherboards, especially the Asus P5QL Pro that I had, randomly, the AMI BIOS (pre-UEFI, since it's socket 775, never heard of a 775 with UEFI) will bleep multiple times and display "CPU Fan Error!" and tell me to press F1 to continue, even when I know the fan is OK! So honestly, the BIOS, makes me literally say under my breath, "Shut up!".
