Installed new RAM in ASUS Laptop, not detected

    Hello, new here.

I just installed a new 8GB stick of RAM into my laptop. Relevant info should be on my profile. The new stick is Kingston, 8GB 3200Mhz. It's SODIMM, and installed just fine, booted just fine except the system doesn't detect the new RAM. Now as far as I'm aware, the new stick can't run at 3200, only at 2400 which is fine. But it's not detecting at all. I checked the UEFI settings too, nothing.

Is there any way this can be fixed, or do I have to replace this with another one?

You need DDR4 PC4-21300 2666MHz, You have bought DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz, find a matching memory card or buy a new 16Gb kit. The memory you have wont clock at 2400.

    Your laptop supports ONLY DDR4 PC4-21300 2666MHz Non-ECC SODIMM

I see. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the info. I'll look into it more, didn't know RAM could be this complicated.

I started building computers back in late '94 and Yes, RAM, CPUs and motherboards can be persnickety as to what they use.

UPDATE: I took it back to a shop and for whatever reason, I put it in incorrectly, even though I pushed it down until it clicked just like I was supposed to lol. Glad it could be resolved without too much hassle.
