Silicone Lottery closing down October ,31,2021
I am shocked at the news about Silicon Lottery these guys have been pretty good to me when i used their products it's a shame they have to call it quits.
I have purchased 8700k and the 8086k which i still own but gifted to my nephew as a gift build.
Really sad to see them go but i have said overclocking is getting pointless because Intel and AMD are maxing them out of the box which is why i stop overclocking unless it's just RAM upclocking.

It's not that at all it's overclocking and headroom are pretty much gone.
The whole purpose of them were to provide the highest bin possible the highest frequency etc....with today's chips coming out of the box boosting to max it's a hard sell for anyone to try to make it work better when it's at the best it will get pretty much it's in their statement about there is no point in it .
Overclocking is pretty much going to the grave the only things you can manipulate now is memory and cache that's about it clock speeds mean nothing when you can't lock them in.

@AddRAM Another example is the horrendous temps and voltage needed to just get those 200mhz on all cores is pretty much a waste.
I have shown with just memory manipulation and boost times gave me pretty much the same or better results if i would of just locked it and that says a lot.
This 10850k i am running now will boost to 5.2 one core all others 5.1-5.0 200mhz isn't gonna change the world only in benchmarks and i caught my 3950x that is overclocked on a non overclock chip just with it's regular boost I know it's not the best running but i am seeing single core scores in a 610's AMD 5000 series is 640's

Hi,
Yeah chips are so bad there is not advantage to delid although direct die water block will do good.
Binning chips though this is a loosing proposition seeing retail you can pay a lot less for a better chip I've always had pretty good luck off micro center.
They were always pretty secretive where they are located only location you get is a ups mail box nothing shady about that lol
