Extra Serial ATA mounts in Thermaltake V200 TG RGB Case

Would it Be a Good or Bad idea to eventually move my 1TB Game SSD to the Extra Serial ATA mount on rear of Motherboard tray, would've when i installed it, but couldn't find a working sata power plug, as way shop did the wiring when built this system in June 2020 is big mess back there

Reason being i might wanna eventually test this Seagate 8TB SMR Drive i have for backups, it's awfully slow at times in this enclosure, so was thinking maybe eventually make room for it inside, and then test it, if it passes, maybe then do a complete format of it, i imagine wouldn't take over 48-72 hours like it does externally, even to test it externally takes at least 19 hours with Seagate tools

Advice welcome on what is best to do in this matter, or if theres other Serial ata mounts in this case i don't know about, i could temporairly mount this 1TB Game SSD, as i have to move system to work table to work on it, then get it back under desk to hook up to monitor, keyboard and mouse and such

I see there are mounts for one or two 2.5" SSDs or HDDs on the rear of the cases motherboard tray.

As for the SATA power cables, they should come from your power supply. In most cases... a SATA power cable has 3 or 4 SATA power connectors on each cable.

Assuming this is your power supply (from your system specs), there should be two SATA power cables with three SATA power connectors on each.

yeah i just gotta find a cable that works, i tried setting it up there on one of the mounts in the past, and couldn't even detect the drive, even though was connected with known good Sata data cable, and power plug was plugged in.

I'll have to see if other end is even connected to power supply if i can get to that side of the power supply with all the wires
(In the Picture i had it i thought connected right, but unforuately no detection in UEFI bios, finally just put it back on the 3.5 inch tray and said forget temp mounting the 8Tb inside case)

If you can find the serial number on the power supply, you might be able to just call EVGA and get straight to premium tech support, by using that serial number. It works for vid cards. I've never had any other EVGA parts, so I don't know for sure.

Here is the EVGA tech support phone number: 714-528-4500
I see a 3rd 6 pin connector on the power supply named Perif1, which might be able to give you three more SATA power connectors. You'd have to ask EVGA.

Here is my non modular power supply. All the power supply cables should connect to the side indicated by the RED dot.

Also... this is from the Gigabyte B460M DS3H motherboard manual. Make sure that drive you have on the back of the motherboard tray is also hooked to one of the 6 SATA ports on the motherboard.

Right I knew that part, it was connected to one of the 6 ports, i don't believe any is disabled with M.2 drive from what i understood from the manual, if not i got like 6 ports, so one of them should work i'd imagine

And yes the power supply connection for the cable should be on left side underneath the power supply shroud on this case

Shop i believe just kept all the cables connected from my old System that transferred the components from, who knows if i really need all those cables or not, or even if they left them connected to the back of the power supply, kinda hard to see down there lol, but will look more closely soon as i can

The last SATA port IS disabled by the M.2 drive....

Oh ok, well i figured one might be, so should have Serial ATA 0 and 1 occupied and 3,2 and 4 still available

The M.2 is Nvme though, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB

I would just "assume" SATA port 5 is disabled.

Yeah not gonna even bother with that one--i still got 3,2,4 thats fine, not like i plan to add drives to fill each one lol. Just would need a spot for the Game SSD, and 8TB drive, who knows if i'll leave it in there full time or not

Main thing is wanna do the diagnostic tests of the 8TB drive internally--maybe faster than doing the tests external, right now it takes like 19 hours to do the Long Generic test with Seagate tools, but not sure exact day yet gonna work on setting all this up, i guess a day when i got time

The 8TB drive should be faster, internally.

On a side note... just for a speed test, you can use the much shorter (less than 5 mins) Crystal Disk Mark to test internal vs. external speeds.
