New Build - How Much Performance Gain?

My current desktop PC uses an Intel i5-3570K CPU (4 cores / 4 threads). The Passmark single thread benchmark is 2404 and the multithread benchmark is 4918.

I might stretch to the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12 cores / 24 threads) for a new build CPU. This has a single thread benchmark of 3508 (x 1.46) and a multithread benchmark of 39549 (x 8). Obviously the Ryzen is going to be far faster for games and other programs which use the extra multiple cores. The single thread performance isn't a great improvement and I wonder what common programs are still single threaded where I won't notice much improvement?

The new build would also use a faster NVME SSD system drive and have faster RAM.
