The latest AMD Ryzen CPUs are the 5000 series. Ryzen 5000 One US seller is Newegg. AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors - Desktops | Newegg.com They range from 6 core (12 threads) up to 16 core (32 threads). The high-end models may be hard to find at anything close to the MSRP, but things are better than they were a couple of months ago.

The 3000 series CPUs are the previous generation, but their performance isn't much lower than the 5000 chips. You could save some money by going with them, especially at the high end (3800x, 3900x, 3950x). Both 3000 and 5000 series are listed as supported by Windows 11.

The highest end motherboards for the 500 series use the X570 chipset. The price range for such boards is large. Here's some Newegg listings again: AMD Motherboards | Newegg

You don't really need an X570 board. There are other suitable chipsets, with overlapping price ranges.

You'd need 288 pin DDR4 RAM. If you wish to play it safe, get memory from the QVL (qualified vendors list) for whatever motherboard you get. The speed runs up to DDR4 5000 or higher, but that's very expensive. The default is typically DDR4 2133.

My own primary system uses a Ryzen 9 5950X. The motherboard is an Asus Tuf X570-Plus gaming. (Sort of midrange. It's available with built-in WiFi, but I don't have that.) My OS drive is a WD Black SN850 (PCI-E 4.0.)

Do you have a budget? That would be a big determinant. You could get a Ryzen 5 3500X plus a B550 motherboard for about $250US. A Ryzen 9 5950X plus an Asus Crosshair VIII Hero (X570), for around $1600.

Have I made things confusing enough? Sorry.

I have a shortlist of components to build a new PC but decided to wait until Windows 11 is released and to see what certified motherboards are available. PC component prices are also reducing post Covid part from GPUs. I would currently choose a X570 board like the GigaByte X570 Aorus Ultra and a mid price range CPU like the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

My wife is running a Ryzen 5 5600X on an Asus Tuf Gaming X750 Pro, using the stock AMD cooler.

I am running a Ryzen 9-5900x on an Asus Rog Strix X570-E gaming, using a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler.
