Best settings for AMD FX 8350 Overclocking?

    MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
    CPU: FX 8350 4.0 GHz overclocked currently to 4.5GHz @ 1.356v
    PSU: Corsair AX1200i

So far I've managed a stable OC of 4.5GHz.

    EDIT New OC:

There is no default best settings. Overclocking has always been trial and error

Thanks for the link. I watched the video and will try Jay's tutorial instructions when I've figured out why my CPU and NB temps are so high at stock clocks. lol

I'm glad you found the video useful.

I started with a AMD Phenom II X4 955 on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 v1.0 motherboard. The CPU eventually failed probably because I pushed it too hard causing it run too hot. In the end if I tried to boot it at a higher speed than its minimum 400MHz it would crash. In 2013 I replaced the CPU with an AMD FX-8350. That is the main reason I haven't tried to overclock it.

I hope you have a good CPU cooler. That is even more important when you are overclocking the CPU.

Earlier this year I replaced the 1TB Seagate 3.5-inch HDD boot drive with a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5-inch SATA SSD. Now it boots a whole lot faster and is a lot more responsive.. I think that's a much better way to improve the computer's performance than overclocking the CPU.

I overclocked my old Phenom II X6 1090T almost a decade ago from it's stock 3.2 GHz (I think it was) to 4.9GHz but CPU-Z reported unstable, so I backed down to 3.8 GHz with 1.434v or so and had it stable playing Crysis 1-3. It lasted a long time until I eventually sold it when I got the FX 6300, which at the time I had no idea about AMDs false advertising as 6 core, and the same with the 8350 but tbh this 8350 runs perfectly. It's just a bit warm. I may need to check the thermal paste.

My highest on the FX series was 4.5GHz. On this 8350 my highest currently has been 4.84GHz.

I also have a computer with a Phenom II X4 960T. It runs a lot cooler than the Phenom II X4 955 ever did. The Phenom II X4 960T is supposed to be an X6 with 2 cores disabled. I remember trying to enable these 2 cores but can't remember exactly what the result was. The 960T either failed to boot or was unstable with all 6 cores enabled. In any event I set it back to 4 cores.

Did you know about the class-action lawsuit against AMD regarding the alleged false advertising of the FX CPUs a couple years ago? I got a check for $30.42 last year for the FX-8350 I bought in 2013.
