I don't understand why you are fixated on core temps. There are no individual core temps for the FX-8350. The FX-8350 only has one internal sensor for the CPU temperature. It is called CPU Diode.

It makes no difference that an old version of AIDA shows individual core temps. That was simply a misunderstanding by the developer for AIDA of AMD FX CPUs back then. He has since corrected that error and replaced this with CPU Diode.

Even if you used the old version of AIDA that had individual core temps then you would just have 8 identical readings of the same CPU Diode sensor.

Like I said previously the temperature called "CPU" is from a sensor on the motherboard underneath the CPU socket. It is higher that "CPU Diode" because it has no direct cooling like the CPU itself does.

It depends on which version of these monitoring programs you are using.

That screenshot in post #37 is of the FX 8350. It was taken in 2014, with AIDA64 Extreme, version 3.20.2600
The current version of AIDA64 is 6.33.5700

As for why I am "fixated" on this... it's to prove to @Lance1, that his FX-9590 is not really running at 2C like Speccy is showing. It's probably and old version of Speccy as well.

For some reason, the newer versions of the temp monitoring programs, don't show the same thing.

Here's a Speccy screenshot of my old FX-8350, taken in 2015...

Maybe use the free version of Revo Uninstaller. It not only uninstalls... it removes all the left over registry entries also.
Revo is a killer good program as well...

Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily
OK I'm up and running with a clean install of AIDA64 OLD.. Yes I did used Revo Uninstaller in this process. All said! No change. With no movement I'm at 4c. Otherwise with movement it increases expediently.

Yeah, that's what it should say. When you posted the previous screenshot, the CPU and the core temps were all 21C
    NOW... it's showing 21 and 4C

The whole point of this... is that unlike your 1st post... you're not "really" running at 2C or 4C, that was (like I said before) some AMD flim-flammery. (post #20)

Well now that that is taken care of, you might as well install the newest version of AIDA.
You CAN install newer versions, right over top of the older versions.

    /edit

Also, remember the graph in post #22. In any temp monitoring programs that show both the CPU and the Core temps for the AMD FX series CPUs...

Any amount of CPU loading will raise the Core temp, super fast.
And the CPU temp will rise very slowly, until you his about 45C, then will will both behave pretty much the same.

It's flimflammery Take out the dash. So what you are saying is this is by design?? A mess up! "I really could have used crude words" Buy AMD? All this is, is a inconvenience to use! The user.

No. I like this old one.

Well, for many other reasons... the newest version is the one you should use, especially if you have any newer hardware in there.

My hardware hasn't changed since I built this system. And I have no plans to build a new system as of yet. But as tech goes! You never know.... I Like this version of AIDA64. I can update anytime if I so desire.

Ghot on a personal note, this conversation has bean educational. So thank you. You are a wealth of knowledge. I think we have beat this thing to death. I think I'll close this post! Not Unless there's Anything Ell's You Can Add... I'll see you around the forum.

I would not call it flimflammery. It is just a known problem with AMD FX CPUs. Nobody at AMD has ever commented on why this problem exists. There has been a lot of speculation but that should not be considered proof of anything.

I am surprised you have not researched this. A little Google searching will show you that this problem was well known back in 2014 and discussed by many people online.

Even today there is no known way to guarentee that the AMD FX CPU idle temperature is being read correctly. Some people say that AMD OverDrive gives a better representation of both the idle and load CPU temperatures. If you are curious you might want to investigate this program.

Well of course not. Why would they expose themselves to open criticism.

Yes I have BUT! No real explanation or solution to the problem.

I have AMD OverDrive. As far as I can see there is only Temp Readings of the thermal margin which I suspect is the CPU and Not the CPU Diode.

Excuse the temps. I was running other apps witch brought the temps up. sorry. I'm not uploading another video.

My CPU and GPU relatively idle temperatures are: ie I have a YouTube playlist playing in Waterfox/Firefox
    CPU: 95°F (35 °C)
    GPU: 88°F (31 °C)

Like I have been saying the there is only one real CPU temperature measured. It is CPU Diode. This is internal to the FX8350. The temperature called CPU is measured by a sensor under the CPU socket.

There is only ONE answer that matters, and that is the right one. And in this case, on THAT platform, you can't look at any "temps" because none of them will be correct. The FX series AM3 and AM3+ platform don't use a normal thermal monitoring solution like Intel or like the newer Ryzen processors. They use "Distance to TJmax" which is an estimated temperature based on a thermal diode and a formula.

There are only two ways to accurately measure and monitor thermals on that platform. One is using AMD overdrive. The other is using Core Temp and changing the option for "display distance to TJmax in thermal fields" in the advanced setttings options. You do not ever want to see LESS than 10°C distance to TJmax. Anything MORE than ten degrees to TJmax is ok.
