Well you are going to have to try setting different speed. Leave timings the same but change too say 3600 instead of 4000 and see what happens. If that helps and you can boot, you can start playing with voltages and other timings.

If the RAM is on the GSkill compatibility list...it's... compatible.

    Go here

ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming Review | TechPowerUp

Page 5 has your BIOS screenshots

ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming Review - BIOS Overview | TechPowerUp

Pic 4 change to manual instead of XMP
Picture 5 set like shown in that pic
The sixth pic has AI Tweaker setting. Put in the timings from the RAM, but use like I said 3600 on pic 5

You can leave the others at Auto for now. See if that works and we can go from there

Haven't played with Intel as I have been AMD for a while, but others can help to. I think you can get the RAM going, but if you do get another set, go with B-Die RAM, the timings will be equal, like 16,16, 16 etc.

Can you show us pictures of your BIOS ram timings and where you set it to XMP?

To take pictures in BIOS you have to have a FAT 32 USB drive inserted in a rear USB port. Go to the BIOS section you want to capture and press F12, give it a name and it will save it to the USB drive.

I asked a number of pages back Steve. Great minds... LOL. Seriously jds63 This might really help (though it also might not). Steve is way more experienced than me with RAM timings, but there may be a few you could loosen up a little bit that can make a difference. But we have to see them.

I'm not sure I totally understand his chipset and his BIOS. Mine is a few years older, but it should run his ram at XPM. I'm just hoping there is a setting wrong somewhere.

@jds63 have you set your BIOS like this? This should be your board And make sure the Dram Voltage is 1.35.

The timings and frequency should be your frequency and timings. I believe 4000 18-22-22

These numbers should be set to your Ram's XMP settings, 18-22-22

These numbers should also be for your ram DDR4-4000
