High end B550 or Standard X570?

Hi, I'm building a new AMD RYZEN 5th gen desktop. I want to have great performance but no overkills.

Which chipset would you choose? I read that by definition X570 is better but a higher end B550 can be in some cases better than a medium tier x570.

    See these please

    Or

    CPU would be

Edit new links: Here are new links directly to the manufacturer instead of a shop:
MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK AMD AM4 DDR4 CF M.2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 HDMI ATX Gaming Motherboard

    MPG X570 GAMING PLUS

My display has both DisplayPort and HDMI so it doesn't matter to me which one i can use. Though it would be nice to have a built in DisplayPort. I don't intend to use pci-e graphics since the prizes went over the roof.

Can you recommend the B550 one over X570? As you can see they are about the same price but the b550 has DisplayPort and 2.5G Ethernet while the x570 one doesn't have any of these. It's not a must as i only have a 500mbps connection but it sounds nice for the future

I'm also open to different models with similar specs

    Thanks

Those are both awesome choices! I can understand why it's tough to choose between them! I like the B550 myself, not really because it is better than the other choice because they are both of great quality. I like the aesthetics and the heatsinks because it provides options you might want in the future. What I mean is it is going to look great in any case or color scheme and it sure looks to have great overclocking options should you ever decide to.

You definitely have a knowledge of quality hardware! I can't see you going wrong with either choice. My choice was mainly based purely on aesthetics and the awesome heat sinks provided. I am not familiar with the blower type fan that the X570 uses. In my mind I question the life of the component and availability of a replacement in the event it eventually fails.

I choose X570 back in Jan 2020 the B550 had not come out & would still of chose an X570 for its chipset & PCi 4.0 compatability myself, I also considered my purchase based on have good VRM configuration.

As for the small fan it does not make any noise, keeps the chipset cool & would expect it to last as long as the motherboard does just like any other fan you can buy in 2021 !

Thank you everyone for your quick and precious help, especially for your kind words, exploder! Very much appreciated and valued.
I'm giving rep points to everyone because you all helped me a lot!

It is reassuring to know both are good options. I'll think about it.

You linked to a ryzen 5800x which does NOT have graphics on board. You would be required to run a dedicated graphics card.

It also naturally depends on the budget available. There is typically a difference in price between the B550's and X570's.

I've just been through the same decision making and purchased an Asus Strix X570-E Gaming mainboard. I'm going to get a x5900x Ryzen when they're available in my country again (should be soon).

The other key decision is what is the primary uses for the new pc. I am not a gamer so my needs are different.

If you have the time there is a full breakdown\analysis of many current B550's and X570 boards by Buildzoid on YouTube:
Rambling about B550 and X570 motherboards. December 2020 - YouTube

As the title suggests he does 'ramble' but his rambling's are well informed!. But the good news is the there are links to each board he reviews so the viewer doesn't have to watch the whole 2 hours plus video.

Thank you very much, I will check it out. I have the budget for it, I don't want to go cheap. I'm not gaming either but need to render videos and i do software development so I appreciate fast speeds.

I noticed b550s are usually cheaper but not this one, this one is in the entry-x570 range and for it, it seems to have better auxiliaries and thermals and IO shield than them. Perhaps I will check out higher tier X570s too but I have do admit I really like this high end b550.
I even read an article that said that high end v550s can sometimes offer better specs than a mid tier x570. Then again, PCI-E 4.0 sounds useful for the near future. Ah,, hard choice.
