Anyone here using an eGPU via Thunderbolt 3 dock on their laptop?

One of the more frustrating things I always lamented with laptop purchases is the fact that the GPU is soldered into the motherboard. So often I'd find a configuration I like, only to see that the GPU is anemic.

So years later, I'm pondering the upgrade of my primary laptop and noticed that eGPU is now possible via Thunderbolt and a number of laptops are now offering a Thunderbolt 3 port. My question is... does the GPU perform really well in this configuration? Or is there a notable performance difference vs. onboard GPU?

I have the same question. I have a Thunderbolt 3 port and need to do some graphics work on a laptop.

I'll add my voice to the OP's request. I have an LG Gram with Intel HD630 video chip (admittedly a pretty dismal performer) and was thinking about an eGPU box to house a spare Nvidia 1660 Super I already own.
