New M.2 Temp issue

More airflow in your case will help, even if just adding one fan blowing over the M.2 will help. What are your Ambient temps?

M.2s can run higher than SSDs, your temps are not horrible. I would zip a 120mm fan pointing it to the M.2

Yes, those are not bad temps. I believe OP stated a heatsink was in use. I believe another fan will drop temps by about 10c idle

There was 2 slots to install it in and i chose the slot one with the heatsink cover thinking it would be the cooler option.

Are these temps high or to be expected?

I have a Gigabyte motherboard which came with a heatsink on 1 of the m.2 slot but my particular m.2 is double sided so I used a double sided heatsink & put the oem heatsink aside forever.

The heasink Asus provide you with looks flat with no fins to cool it down quicker & has your m.2 got chips on both side of the pcb it is on ?

There are many types of aftermarket heatsinks you can choose from to suit the style of your motherboard if you so desire as that is the most practical solution to cooling down your m.2, anyways an m.2 drive runs alot hotter because they are alot faster than any 2.5" SSD which creates extra heat.

Those are pretty much normal for NVME drives. Here's what mine are doing at this very moment. You can see my system spec (and images) in System one.



They will even get hotter when I'm gaming. I saw a report that say Samsung's drives can get up to high 90's before they throttle...

That said, if at all possible always install the drive in the slot furthest away for the GPU. And make sure your case gets good air flow. And depending on case you don't need a thousand fans. My case only has 3 system fans, + the two 140mm radiator fans for the AIO CPU cooler. And I don't run them at max speeds because I want as quiet a system as possible. I also don't overclock so that helps with cooler temps and lower fan speeds.
