980 Pro are TLC (like the 970 EVO), 970 PRO are MLC. So unless you have PCIE 4.0, which I don't think he does, then the 970 will be better for larger transfers, at least.

It appears that EVO -> PRO now and there will be no more EVO line.

None of us Intel folks have PCIe 4 yet, but I still think a 980 Pro would be faster than a 970 Pro according to its specs. But I also think the 970 Pro is a better made M.2

    And the 980`s are cheaper

The 980 has an MLC cache in front of the TLC. While it may run faster out of the cache, once the cache fills it will run slower. That may or may not be important or not. The 980 is cheaper because it uses TLC nand. So it comes down to whether you frequently make longer transfers to it or not. Another thing to consider is that he PCI-E 4.0 capability in the 980 makes it more future-proof.

Might as well wait on next Gen offerings i am lucky to get a 3090

Any who next Gen Ryzen will be something to shoot for getting a 5000 series seems to be more trouble than it's worth.

This year though i am going to switch up my boot to NVME and grab some new fans maybe for now not much needed honestly

    Hi,
Yeah guess the price hole to fill is between 2000.us and 1000.us instead of 1500.us and 800.us lol
