Any chance I ruined my CPU? I discovered ...
... it's not compatible with the MoBo
I will have to sell the CPU and get one that is compatible. But how do I know if the CPU is still in good condition?
Thanks guys :)

Is it not compatible simply because of something like like of BIOS support from the MB maker? Is the socket type on the MB the same type of socket that the CPU is intended for? If both of those are true, then the CPU should be at least electrically compatible and should be fine. Otherwise - all are off and it should be tested in a compatible MB.
Even more, you can expect a complete motherboard boot failure if you try to use a chip with smaller lithography than what was out, when the motherboard was made! That would result in wrong voltages for not only Vcore, but also for the ODT and etc.
For example, using a 2006 motherboard (65nm era) for a Core 2 Duo E8400 (not even out until 2008 or very-late-2007) (45nm) = Won't work!
Then I guess it's ok.
This is the MoBo: Asus TUF B365M-Plus Gaming, only compatible with the i7 8700K, and i7 8700T
CPU: i7 8700
Thanks a lot guys! :)
