The title says it: after 8 years, time to build a new machine.

Have i5-10600K ordered, ASUS Rog Strix Z490-A delivered, but suddenly realized I didn't think about the cooler. Right now I'm using the Hyper 212 Evo, but I read it won't cut it for the 125W processor I ordered. The internet suggests Noctua D15, but I'm not sure I have to drop that much money or do I?

Does anyone use i5-10600K? What do you use for a cooler? I'm not planning to overclock, will run at the stock 4.1.

    I wouldn't use a Hyper 212 EVO for a 125w CPU.
I would suggest an AIO water cooler.

A D15 would probably work, but IMO they are just too big.

    Something like this...

A lot depends on what case you have, as well.

    /edit

Max. RAM height under a Noctua NH D15 is 2.5" (64mm)

With the Noctua installed, you're gonna have to move that front fan UP, to clear the RAM. This will make the Noctua about an 1" taller than the Hyper 212 EVO.

As for cooling power... the Noctua is a great choice. But you need to consider the size of the beast.

This comparison chart is a bit old, but will give you an idea of the various coolers and their cooling power...

Honestly I think you will be okay with a Hyper 212 Evo on a 10th gen Intel Core i5 if you are going to run at base clocks and not overclock it. You already own the cooler. It doesn't hurt to try and see if it works out well enough. If not, you can always get a replacement cooler with more performance.

I'm personally not a huge fan of the AIO and water cooling in general. I don't really like the noise from the pump and the radiator setup. I never push mine hard enough to really require it. And if/when a part in the loop does fail, you have liquid inside of your PC which is simply really, really bad.

I am building a new PC myself and plan to run a 9 series Ryzen 4th gen using an air cooler. I have the Dark Rock Pro 4.
