Excellent work, as always, Drew. Please tell me one thing. How did you enlarge the back access to the CPU on the HAF X? I enlarged mine also, but it didn't maintain the rolled edges and support. Just curious.

    Thanks Steve.

I never enlarged the back of the HAF X's CPU area, it's still factory. And if you click on the image and look closely at the CPU area, the CPU Cooler plate is still partially covered by the opening. If you're looking at the bottom (last) image, that's the Phanteks case.

I never even thought about enlarging the HAF X's opening because I figured it would be a pain in the rear.

Oh, and I saw your message :)

    Thanks.

I was looking at the right case I just missed it still being covered. And yes, it is a pain. It only takes about 5 minutes to do it. Then an hour to clean up the cut. But, it is useful if you ever want to change CPU Coolers. I, for the life of me, have no clue why Cooler Master didn't fix that after they changed the CPU Socket location.

Good stuff, Culbrelai and sygnus21. Man, that I7 6700K CPU is one popular choice.

I'm with you on that. However, if they did do it, I not sure how they would/should compensate previous owners. Anyway I bought mine back in June 2010. Did they fix subsequent cases after that? I don't know.

What I did was just left the back-plate in place and used it for the new CPU cooler. Although it was still a Corsair cooler. Anyway I'm thinking the back-plate should be able to house any cooler designed for those motherboards using them. And if I have to remove the motherboard anyway I'm probably replacing it so it's a moot point.
