I figured I'd update since I rebuilt my desktop a few months ago. The motherboard died on my old desktop around June of 2017 and I went laptop-only after that. This past October, I decided to finally put it back together. I decided to downsize to a Mini-ITX form factor with a Fractal Design Core 500 case I bought new from Newegg and a Gigabyte Z97-WIFI motherboard that I bought used on Ebay. It's been running great. I overclocked my i5-4690K to 4.5Ghz and it still runs nice and cool even in such a small case.

For size comparison next to my portable toolbox.
I decided to not use my optical drive so I could mount the included 140mm fan as a top intake and use the drive bay space for cable routing.
Since the case is so small, it's hard to show the cable management. I ran the cables behind the front panel and up through the cutout for the optical drive bay and also along each side in the bottom. It turned out pretty well for my first Mini-ITX build, I think.

Thanks! I chose this case in particular because of how roomy it claimed to be inside. According to the manufacturer's specs, all of the parts I already had would fit so all I needed to replace was the dead motherboard. I really didn't want to have to buy new, smaller versions of my PSU and GPU because the ones I have were only in my old desktop for a week before the old motherboard died. I also like having the option to mount my optical drive in the future if I choose, and there's supposed to be enough room for liquid cooling too if I ever choose to go that route.
