I was thinking about upgrading from my Samsung 840 pro to a PCIe SSD(I don't need it, but... thought it'd be cool) until I got me some specs. For example the Kingston HyperX Predator 240GB 4K random read is 120000 IOPS & random write is 78000 IOPS this is my last benchmark:
Show off your PC!-image-2.png So I guess I'll just leave it the way it is. I can wait until buy/build the next PC, and they'll be cheaper, faster, and by then probably standard.

Yes in cases like this it's better to go for quantity, higher speeds are largely irrelevant, you'd never notice.

I was thinking of using it as a system disk.

Supposedly I have 4 SATA ports, but on can find 3. The forth is probably there, but no connector jack(it happens), so on my desktop I only have the DVD, SSD 256GB(system) and a HDD 2 TB(Macrium backups, file history & Libraries).
I wanted a separate disk just for Macrium backups. The key word is "wanted" not "need". If it was about disk space(I actually have more than enough for me) I could buy a much larger HDD cheaper, but I just don't like the idea of a backup partition on a very active disk, and do not want to use an ext. HDD(looks lousy and it's just something else to dust of every day.

But to sum it up my SSD is actually faster so I'll stay with the current setup:). The desktop isn't one of these colorful-super PC's I see in the Forums, just a stock Lenovo H530 with 16 GB RAM & a SSD system drive added. but it suits my needs, never gets above 35°C (43°C for AMD R5 230) so I'll save my money for a nicer complete PC in the far future.

I was just about to get a new 240GB one, SSD | 'SSD SATA3 240GB SiliconPower Velox V70 Synchrono... | Emmi online shop, prodaja: racunari, laptopovi, TFT monitori, netbook i notebook raĨunari, foto oprema... it's less than 90 Euro here. My bank account is protesting, will see in next couple of hours who will win.
Was going to use it for Win 8.1 for now and my old 120 GB to shmuck around with W10.
    P.S.
Ok, valet won for now, just checked and store's closed for the day. Oh well, there's always Monday.

Isn't it great when a decision is taken out of our hands?
Today I finally went to Euronics and got me a can of compressed air to blow out my laptop and desktop, and FINALLY bought and installed a plastic(non static/magnetic) mounting bracket for my SSD, the was just hanging/lying there. I wanted to do that for a while but procrastinated on the weekends.

Hey everyone, I just joined and i figured I'd introduce myself. What better way to get to know someone than by looking at their rig, that's my opinion.

The names Cloudraker, and here are my babies. The first one is the one i only recently completed to replace my old 3930k setup.

One of the things i thought i would love about this case is that i truly thought the size would make cable management easier. WRONG! I truly miss being able to run the cables behind my mobo like on my old Level 10 GT. I am trying to decide between the black or red individually sleeved kit for my PSU, and then I'll order it.

The second and keyboard and mouse there is for my hidden baby.

Welcome Cloudraker (are you a pilot ?)
Nice "Man cave" you set up there. That red thingy is a gaming machine ? Too bad that case doesn't have better cable management. I use an older, full size server tower Chieftec Dragon, didn't have proper cable management so I made holes thru the MB back plate to push cables thru them from the back and closest to parts cables have to supply. Helped a bit. A modular PSU with flat sleaved cables can help too but not much can be done with AIO water coolers save for cutting and splicing hoses for better fit. MB makers should really get on the bandwagon with case makers and put power connectors to the back side or at least at the edges. Still, as long as wires and hoses do not impede airflow, it's only matter of neat looks.

    Welcome to TF @Cloudraker !
    Nice rig.
The best way to make cabling tidy is to have them go around the side of the case or behind the mobo and stick it out only close to the connector it's suppose to go. And try bundling them together for a cleaner look. :)

First post from my newly built PC (sans GPU).

Since I still don't have a GPU, I am running 3 monitors via the on-board video card.

So far, the giant CPU cooler is doing well.
I still need to do some tweaking in the BIOS. :)
