    Thanks guys.

Was a toss up between the S and the C but went with the C because it is slightly smaller than the S and as mentioned, the shroud.
    Very nice Stormy
In your new case, what is the distance from the motherboard backplate and the side of the case? For my mobo and protruding cpu fan I need 7 3/4 inches and that's tight. :)
Even though my system is running great temps I still want a new case with more room to work with :)

    cheers

Sorry for the delay Scramjet. Just checked the case manual and is shows max cooler height of 170 mm/6.7". Guess you'll have to keep looking.

    Hi All,
Some awesome builds here I must say!
Hopefully I can attach some pics here of my new build I upgraded to this past July(2017) .
    Asus Z270 Mark 1 TUF,
Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz,
    G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600),
    Noctua NH-D15 SSO2 D-Type Premium CPU Cooler,
    GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB,
    SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 250GB NVMe
    1000 watt PSU, Windows 10 Pro x64
Antec 900 Mid Tower case that I modified to get the side to fit with the large Noctua cpu cooler. CPU Temps are 30-40 C Overclocked to 4.8. CPU fan running at 800-890 while playing mmo. The wiring is a mess...just haven't got around to tucking it away neatly lol. Very happy with this build.

After having to replace a few parts recently (CPU, RAM, and motherboard) due to a motherboard failure, decided it was time to retire my trusty old Antec Three Hundred and get something new to put the new parts in. Picked up a Fractal Design Define C last weekend and then had fun for a couple of hours getting everything in it,

    Attachment 165693

Must say everything runs a bit cooler and is quite a bit quieter than the old case.
    Super Clean Stormy........very nice....

Scramjet, according to specs, the NH-D16 is 165mm in height, or about 6.5". There are a lot of cases that will do that. The Phanteks Pro M, is a mid tower case and claims it has clearance for a CPU cooler of 193mm or about 7.6". But, a lot of cases should do that. I only mention that case because I just used it. I had a Phanteks Luxe delivered yesterday which claims it has the same space.

    Hi,
    NH-D14 I have one and it is exactly 6-1/4" so Steve's 6.5" leaves 1/4" for clearance :)

Mike, he's got the D15. I don't know if there's a difference in them or not. The specs on it is 165mm. There are a lot of cases that will take that. The 2 I mentioned claim they have 195 mm clearance, which should be slightly over an inch. I had the D14 as well. I had it in a HAF X case and it fit without any problems. Of course a small Volkswagon would fit in it. :)

I love the Corsair Carbide series Air 540 case. I didn't do much in the way of snazzy design of the insides though, I've never been particularly interested in crazy light setups.

The only personalization I did was adding a RWBY logos sticker to the side panel. Almost invisible, as the emblems are black lol.
