    Guidance on AMD Ryzen Processors

Assembling a new system. I have always used AMD CPU's. I am not going to make the same mistake I made with the last system using the dog turkey FX 9590. I am looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT. It has more than enough power to cover how I use my PC, A media server, Amateur radio rig control, Software Defined Radio's, decoding digital transmission modes, digital signal processing, distributed computing, etc. I want to know which Ryzen processor has the fewest problems. I don't want another 9590. The price is not nearly as important as it's reliability. The motherboard is going to be an ASUS ROG Strix B550-E.

Don't forget you need AGESA code V1.1 or higher for it which means a bios update unless you motherboard is ready for it ?

My motherboard has the bios update for myne (F31a) but is in "Alpha" state, so will wait till the a is removed.

Sorry myne has changed to (31b) beta now - so quick & the 5th of November worldwide availability of CPU & the GPU'S on the 28th of October this month..

Good info. I think what I am going to do get the Ryzen I have listed above. It is plenty powerful enough for my needs. if I feel I need more I can install a more powerful CPU. after I get this up build and running I need to address my HD situation. I am running 5 HDD's. I want to copy them over to a couple of 6TB WD's these 5 drives will be put in storage cases as backups.

I see with the motherboard you have chosen it has limited support for PCi 4.0, see pic:

This all depends on what type of storage you want to use for your data i.e M2 or HDD ?

As there is a card you can plug into the 2nd gpu slot were you would install 4 X PCi 4.0 m.2 ssd's which would create a really fast data storage, but at a cost which is the m.2 ssd's ?

I was also thinking if you just had 2 X m.2 on the motherboard only 1 of them is PCi 4.0 while the other is 3.0

But, still the second m.2 is pci 3.0, depends if you want a second one now ?
