There is absolutely no reason to not maximize the RAM in a Notebook if it can be afforded. Windows and Windows-based programs like to have all they can get, helps keep intensive programs running smoothly.
Hey i get what you mean. I mean yea i can afford it... but when you say that, you mean like you have enough money to spend on it right? Like you mean some ppl can only budget a certain amount for something right?

For me, whether its a laptop or parts... I want to spend enough on it... where the chances I need to upgrade the part is less or have lesser issues. Like example i wanted a new ssd because my old ssd is 250gb and only 20gb free... so i got a 1tb nvme ssd samsung evo 970 which is the most expensive one because i read about the reviews... and I didn't want to cheap 20 or 40 dollars for the same 1tb with another brand if they aren't reliable... and i mean i could have just went 500gb instead but since i was cloning the drive, i rather it show 700gb free of 930gb as oppose to say 230gb free of 465g.

And since i figure for this xps 15 9550 laptop, 32gb max ram is the max i can do, might as well do it right since there is no more upgrades i can do?

Again, i updated an old 2.5 inch 250gb samsung sata evo 840 and got a 1tb nvme samsung 870 evo ssd and also got a new laptop battery replacement. Well battery you have to get a new one for a laptop after 1.5 to 2 years normally. But other things you can't upgrade.

Well my initial thought was... i read almost nobody needs 32gb ram so thats why i bought the 16gb first... but didn't open the package. But that poker program said their software holdem manager 3 uses a ton of ram... but 16gb would be more than enough... i use holdem manager 2 now with 8gb with not much issue... but plan to use holdem manager 3 later... so i thought... well maybe just 32gb max it anyway even if i dont need it right?

I mean no one ever regrets buying too much ram right?

I made sure to get 1tb nvme ssd because i plan to use my laptop for many more years. I had it since late 2016, and want to use it for a long time. Someone said like if you plan to use it for 2 more years, upgrade ram to 32gb ram. I honestly would not mind using this laptop for 5 more years or longer. Would you say that would be fine with my current processor i5-6300? With 32gb... probably absolutely right? But with 16gb... maybe some issue?

Okay. So if if you had the money to spend for it, you would probably just upgrade it to the max 32gb ram then right? For me its just like, do i want to spend another 62 dollars for it. Cost 63 for the 16gb, and upgrading to 32gb would be about double.

Because i thought hey if i do this upgrade, no more possible upgrades left on my laptop as my ram would be maxed out... my 1tb nvme ssd is pretty much the max and the battery i got new 84wh... well i probably get a new battery every 1.5 years no matter what.
