Is my laptop Upgradeable? (I don't think so due to the broken hinge)

So, my laptop has really old and bad specs. You can check it in this post in 'My computers' Section.

I am planning to replace the celeron 1000M with an i7-3940xm (due to the socket and chipset)
    DDR3-1600MHz 2x2GB with DDR3-1600MHz 8x2GB
And an old 320GB hard drive with an 1TB SSD (or 500GB SSD)
And the optical drive with a caddy (for dual storage)

Do you think it will be compatible?

Those 2 processors use the same socket; FCPGA988

The old one is a dual core 1.8 ghz; the new one a quad core 3.0 with 8 threads.

    Intel says the new processor was priced at over $1000;

No doubt it would be a big upgrade, but I'd question investing much money in a 7 or 8 year old laptop----even if it could be done fairly easily and all parts were compatible.

On the other hand, maybe these new parts will only cost you $100. I don't know.

Without knowing more, I wouldn't do it. I'd buy a different machine entirely.

Vouch. Upgrading that laptop would not be worth it, IMO.

A broken hinge on a cheap laptop ... I can relate to that.

Lesson learned: Don't buy a cheap laptop. If you can't afford a business laptop (those start at around $1000), then get a desktop instead.

Otherwise you'll be replacing the cheap laptop time after time after time ... because they break down long before a business laptop (or a cheap desktop) would.

Cheap laptops are GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE. Avoid them.

You could check the manufacturers website for compatibility!

I don't remember the price since it was like bought at 2013.

I agree with @margrave55. It'd best to invest in a good laptop instead of upgrading a cheap one. And compatibility will not be the worst of your problems.

I agree with @Ghot and all the others who say the money would be best spent on a new one that fits your budget. 7+ years is old for a laptop, particularly configured as yours is. Just don't think you'd be happy trying to upgrade parts, if you could.
