Upgrading Desktop PC to Gaming PC
Hi
I am in the process of checking out what it would take to upgrade my husbands PC so it can run the Trainz Simulator without being jerky at all (or at least will minimise the jerkiness).
At present he has a PC with the following items:
CPU: Intel i5-7600 (LGA 1151) (I believe this is a 7th Gen CPU)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z270-HD3 LGA1151 DDR4 ATX
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2400MHz (x2); Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 2400MHz (x2)
Graphics Card: Zotac Geforce GTX1050Ti Mini 4GB
He runs Trainz from a Crucial 500GB SSD
I know that to run anything of 8th Gen or above you need to have items of above a certain spec. Obviously an 8th Gen or better CPU - but I also believe you need a Mobo with a 310 or better chipset and memory better than he has at present (I think it needs to be 2666Mhz or better). Whilst talking about memory I do wonder whether it would be worth having a mobo that can take at least one, maybe two M2 modules. He'll also need a better Graphics Card although we're not in a position to get one of the latest cards.
Armed with the info above re what he currently has, I've been looking on the eBuyer site for bits and have come up with the following in the hope of upgrading to a 9th Gen pc:
CPU: i7 9700K
Mobo: Gigabyte Z390 UD
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB
Graphic Card: ZOTAC Geforce GTX1660 SUPER
I would appreciate it if folk could comment on my thoughts above and any advice re improvements would be very welcome. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
