Has anyone tried to install 32gb of memory in a Dell optiplex 7020?

I have a Dell optiplex 7020 and in the manual it says the max supported ram is 16GB but the processor inside (Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.30GHz
Haswell 22nm Technology) supports 32gb of ram.

So would I be able to install 32gb of ram in a Dell optiplex 7020?

    smirk24:
Because your Dell OptiPlex 7020 has an Intel Core i5-4590 3.30 GHz quad core processor, it also has Intel HD Graphics 4600 integrated graphics.
The processor supports and allows you to max it out with 32 GB(8 GB x 4) of DDR3-1600 MHz RAM, but that's over-kill and a waste of money.
Even if you install a dedicated graphics card to improve graphics performance, 16 GB is more than enough RAM.
If you want to improve overall performance and snappiness, install a solid state drive(SSD) - if it still has a hard disk drive(HDD).

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is a nice performing graphics card, but it uses 75W of power.
Hopefully, the 290W power supply that comes in the Dell OptiPlex 7020 can handle the demands of gaming.

I can relate to you wanting to max out your machines.
My refurbished Dell OptiPlex 9020 minitowers have the fastest processor (Intel Core i7-4790) they support and the maximum amount of RAM (32 GB) they support.
I got a good deal (less than $400 apiece) on them, so I purchased them that way.
I'm not a gamer though, so the integrated Intel graphics does fine for me.

I have a 305 watt and I believe a 350 watt somewhere. Intel's integrated graphics have come along ways since the old XP and vista days so that's a good way to go
