CPU Recommendation for My Computer

I do plan on building a new computer one day instead of buying a pre-configured setup, but in the mean time, im looking for a cpu upgrade to my computer; stats are on my profile page, slightly upgraded a few things, but with my computer, im looking for the highest possible CPU upgrade to the system I got and it can handle with its hardware setup as is. I doubt my setup can handle a high tier AMD cpu or an even higher tier Intel CPU, so whatever level it can handle intel wise, I would appreciate knowing what it can take

4790-k but you couldn't oc it dell lock down.

to be honest, unless I get a brand new setup, hardware and all, I dont think ill ever be overclocking anything period. Plus, I got another issue I need to see about fixing anyways, so if this is the cpu for my current system, then ill see about getting it

I don't see the point you already have a quad core processor so getting another is net gain = zero.

Save the funds for the amd build.

The i7-4770 you have was near top of the line when introduced. It was compatible with 1150 socket motherboards.

Your 4770 has Passmark scores of 7031 and 2165

The 4790k was the top of the line and has a Passmark score of 8097; single thread 2485. About 15% above your 4770.

For that little improvement, I wouldn't even consider changing CPUs alone.

Put all your money toward a new motherboard, new CPU, and new RAM.

so plain and simple: im not doing any CPU upgrade period on my computer, maybe storage, but im already running an 860 EVO as my C: Drive, and a 2 TB barracuda as my misc storage drive. IF any, I'll probably look for a 1 TB SSD upgrade, but for now, sticking with what I got
