    AMD discussion

Already having fun playing with my new AMD hardware. I wanted to start this thread so others can post their tips and results.

Will add links in the future for software/tools recommended ie DRAM Calc and such

    Stay tuned!!!!

I have been back and forth with Intel and AMD over the years. Previously, my last AMD setup was a Sempron 2800 and an Athlon 64 X2-4600+. From that point on, I've been on Intel Core series.

Our newest build, is a Ryzen 3800X at home. Extremely pleased with it. The PC itself heats up the room it's in pretty nicely, but my son seems to tolerate it somehow. If it were me, I would be in the basement with it, but that's just me.

So is there a list of coolers that are the best options for these chips in terms of clocking ??

I am talking non custom i still don't like the fact it can leak if not properly fitted

    I am talking
from 3700x up to 3950x I don't think anything lower needs anything fantastic lol Wraith is good enough

One problem with that theory, as soon as you set multiplier manually, no boost and no lowering frequency at idle. If you set it at those 4GHz, it's nailed in place no matter what.
Also, CPU frequency doesn't affect CPU frequency and vice versa but performance of each is affected by other one. Adjustable BCLK can tune that relation a bit but my BIOS doesn't allow it, what's even worse, BCLK isn't exactly 100MHz, it varies from 99.6 to 99.9 making calculations difficult and unpredictable.

Yes because Amd is retarded when it comes to calculations hahaha The ram in my Daughters rig is rated 3200 but only can get 2877 something out of it weird but true

I see what you're saying with that but in theory that still will be faster then locking it in at a higher speed because of the temps when boosting so it would actually be better

I do see your point once it is locked there is can't go further unless you change it again

So pretty much you do juggle the speed so say for instance you lock it in at 4.2 your ram should make up the rest if you don't hit the wall

Cinebench ,ROG Bench all feed off ram and multicore so it only makes sense lower clock cpu higher ram and if you can use the PBO and lower some voltage i would say best combination that you can get period i am pretty sure that is how you see it too

Lol. @Dude. it was your idea to make AMD thread
1.1 SOC is about maximum for 3000 Ryzen, in some cases even lower than that helps stability.
Setting Max CPU BOOST Clock Override even to it's maximum value may actually limit maximum boot frequency, I keep mine on auto and that eeks few more Hz at boost.
It was Tommy's fault, lol. Yeah I played with it, and I get boost to 4550 set like that. I did see 4.6 maybe once or twice.

I will try lowering it a little and see, thanks.

If you mean Max CPU BOOST Clock Override, try on auto.
