Goal is to replace all mechanical clunkers with SSDs and retire them to backups. M.2 and SATA are pretty close in price so might as well use second M.2 to save space. Adata Gammix S11 Pro 1TB but it's PCIe x2 (which my 2nd M.2 is anyway. That will run at 1600/1600 speed, well over any SATA SSD.
I already have two SATA SSDs in removable double tray but will get trey for 4 of them, that takes space of only one 3.5" disk. After that I could stick a 360 AIO in the front if need be but that's gonna wait until I decide on CPU.

The speed differences make the difference in a benchmark, but in real world usage.....you aren't going to see it much. I've got a standard SATA 6.0Gbps SSD, a PCI-E Gen 3 NVMe and a PCI-E Gen 4 NVMe (The WD Black SN850) and for booting, app launching and gaming, they are pretty much indistinguishable from each other.

Speed does make most difference when OS and programs are on it within a reason of course. I have regular Windows on NVME and insider on SATA. It's not as much about disk speed but also amount of load on system. For instance, when there is windows update, on NVME not only that finishes faster but It's imperceptible, when same thing is on SATA drive CPU and memory suffers.
During such update SATA is used up to 100% and CPU almost 50-60%. On NVME, disk is 5-6% and CPU 3-5%.

Had Cyberpunk 2077 on both a HDD , and M.2 , day and night difference !

Hmmmm......cannot say that i have seen an impact on CPU or memory. Going to have to do some reading on that.

I love NVMe's because there is no cabling. I also hate NVMe's because I like to swap out hard drives and play with other OS's and such on my hardware and it's a PITA with NVMe.

Yeah, it's always night and day difference between HDD and any SSD. I was slightly skeptical of SSD's until I bought my first one around 2009....and I was blown away. Haven't run on a regular HDD for a system drive since that time.
