What the heck are you guys ding to require such processing power ? For most things I do including games, I can't feel difference at 2GHz.
There's so much more to computing than just web-browsing, photoshoping, spreadsheets and gaming.

I know but I was interested what you guys are doing with it and where it makes most difference.

Truth be told nobody needs this much power ,when i used to rip movies encode and all that mess a simple 4 core would get it done be the whole damn day almost but it would get done

Now given i have stream options and all that mess it really isn't needed i'm not folding or doing any tasking projects

So to my point here is now these chips are more affordable and to even own one at this price point is just speaks to how times have changed it's overkill yes but when i do use it for more than gaming and movie copy and burning etc it won't struggle for a long time
I can even go further by the time this chip is dated the standard core count might be 16 cores who knows but i won't have to worry about bottlenecks anytime soon unless GPU related

    Well...where do I start?

    1. I wanna compile code fast (a big project takes hours on my 4-core laptop, 3-5h to be exact)
    2. I wanna stream what I'm doing (preferably UHD but mostly FHD)
    3. I wanna game (FHD-UHD)
    4. I wanna record what I'm doing (FHD-UHD)
    5. I wanna do simulations or other heavy calculations like graphics baking
    6. I wanna run multiple VMs at the same time (servers etc...)

And sometimes I want to do all the above at the same time, on one computer. It's called multitasking.

My laptop with 4 cores, simply does not cut it. Ofc. I also need a lot of RAM, 64GB is absolutely bare minimum, 128-256GB is quite good already and 512GB is more than I will need at the moment. And then I also need very fast storage and lots of it. Not just fast bandwidth but also very low access times in the range of 600-800k IOPS per storage unit. And 1-2GPUs with minimum of 11GB VRAM each, preferably 16-24GB each.

My laptop currently has 32GB RAM, and it's prefect for what the rest of the system is capable of. I might consider making it 64GB at some point, but not required at the moment. I need bigger and faster storage before that.

And finally I need a bigger wallet too, with other valuable items in it than just dust.

    So yeah...there's that.

Pretty much sums me up except for VM's
