I did a boo-boo today, and ordered memory that isn't the same. I have PC4 26500 in my system, but I ordered PC4 17000 to add to it to max out my memory. I'm also upgrading the processor from a Ryzen 3 2200, to a Ryzen 5 3600. Will the memory run with each other, as long as they are in the correct matching slots?
I feel so dumb!
The motherboard manuacturer, Gigabyte, has a Qualified Vendor List (QVL).
The list has tested RAM for the computer's configuration.
Using RAM that is not on the QVL is at your own risk.
There can be unexpected performance problems.
There are some RAM manufacturers that guarantee compatibility.
When purchasing RAM:
a) Use RAM on the QVL
b) use in pairs with identical SKU
c) consider manufacturer's offering lifetime warranties

It should work as long as the CAS Letency (CL) value is the same.
If this was mine: I would return said purchased RAM then order Gskill Trident Z NEO series RAM. They are specifically designed to work with Ryzen 3xxx series chips. Plus, they have a life time warranty.
Using RAM modules in pairs is important they match in all respects, especially if wanting Dual-channel performance, except the capacities can be different. I have 2 Desktops and a Notebook with a 4GB and a 2GB module for 6GB total, work just fine. Some newer motherboard BIOSes may automatically set that but older one will need to have the setting changed in the BIOS. Have an older Win7 using 2 x 2GB plus 2 x 1GB for 6GB total. I use part salvaged from computers my clients would have thrown out, sometimes get lucky to have upgrades I don't have to buy. It's important when having 4 or more memory slots/sockets the modules get in the correct slots, sometimes 1 and 3 and 2 and 4, usually color coded [sequence of white black white black or blue black blue black, etc.] and shown in the board's manual.

We all make mistakes, nobody is perfect.
I chose Patriot Viper ram for my Ryzen because all it said was C16 once across the latency numbers, which means it is 16,16,16,38 (38 I Think) 3200Mhz (not overclocked) which is the time it take to access the ram & send the data then shut it down, you will find that with most of the ram listed on qvl list they might say 14,18,17 which when you compare to myne is actually slower.
In the bios my motherboard has set the CL to 15,15,15 in there.
If you do use different sizes of ram say 2 X 16GB & 2 X 4GB of ram the user manual always says match the CAS latency.

Refuse delivery, and order the right memory.
Or just send it back, there should be no problem, it will be less than 15 days and you didn`t open it.
If you call them , they will also tell you to refuse delivery.
There should be no questions asked, just tell them you made a mistake and ordered the wrong memory
If you keep it and install it, all your memory will run at the slower speed.
