you should just stick to 60hz tv & use full sync as capping frames presserves cpu life, full sync is smooth with a 3600.
Can’t see how 60Hz will be anywhere enough for modern high FPS gaming

You should really look at your lowest fps on games to see what is lowest frames as it will be near 60fps, which would be capable of full sync, I do not believe any CPU could keep a constant 144fps with the tech we have & freesync / gsync is over-rated making you pay out more for a slight difference in quality, but most say 144hz because they are just bragging about it because some of us have not got a 144hz monitor.

I would buy a 4k monitor which works at 60hz, you can not fool me into thinking you have alot better graphics because you have 144hz monitor (& I have seen & used all these settings your thinking of & once you get used to the graphics it is not much better & did not impress me) in fact 4k is over rated.
You have already purchased a 144hz monitor & failed with it ?

You show me a really modern game that can keep a constant 144fps ? (& a 3600 will not do that on modern games)

? Were is the 144hz full sync setting - well there is not one because all CPU's are too weak & it has to be faked with freesync or gsync.

60fps Full sync is pulsed at 16ms per frame & alot of games on freesync & gsync have out of sync sound proving my point as it is very annoying hearing a engine not reving the same when racing & puts me of NFS The Run is like that above 30fps

It will not make you a better gamer for having 144hz just a reduced bank balance.

One other fact you need to consider is the freesync - gsync range is important for matching you cpu to the monitor like 40hz to 100hz sync range, no one has mentioned this to you on here though !

GTAV has a unlimited frame rate of 89 to 189fps with the 3600 so full sync is perfect for that as you not getting better graphics & at 144hz the fps will drop even more - look at the maths first buy last.

    So good luck deciding.

Thanks roadblaster, but why does 3600 feature so prominently in discussions ? That’s the memory speed, or is that what’s being referred to ? As I have a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC

    thanks

Well mainly because of it's price, benchmarks & the fact that it can use the highest spec GPU without bottlenecking & it may be a 6-core but it has 12 logical processors all doing different jobs ?

Task manager shows 12 processors just in 6 core layers

I use a web page called "Hardware Compare", they just use mathmatical calculations when you look at 1 card versus another & do not give out an opinion of "this card is better than these 2" which I find anoying on other stupid benchmark site.

You will be fine with a 3600. Just I read some websites reporting a couple percent less performance at 1080P with a 2070 Super and more ona 3600. You will not notice difference really. I do some workstation stuff so that's why I would probably opt for 3700x or 3900x if I went back to AMD, but fore pure gaming, its a sweet spot CPU. 24" 144hz 1080P it will rock. I guess you're into e-sports games?

I found 27" monitor was good also still not much eye movement close up.

I say this because when playng GTAV I found I could drive really fast without hitting any cars but when I had to send that TV back because it would not freesync with my RX570 card I went back to my 24" monitor & started to hit traffic again.
