Continuing on, the PC build, is there any disadvantage whatsoever in getting a 1440 144hz monitor re game FPS than getting a 1080 monitor ? IMO the 1440 has to be the best choice, but don’t want to limit the game FPS comments please

    concern over gaming FPS

Trying to decide if should go with 144Hz 1080 or 1044....may move up to a RTX 1080 GPU .....just want to get it right for good FPS in gaming thanks

    FPS

I use a Ryzen 3600 CPU with a Aorus Elite X570 board ready to take advantage of the Pcie 4.0 m.2 ssd's which are available (Sabrent is currentley the fastest / cheapness, just waiting for a price drop on the 1tb's )

My GPU currentley is only the RX580 Nitro, but every game I play is 60fps constant but with Adrenaline Software it logs your fps & tells you the lowest fps you have had which I have always thought was the most important fps stat to know & not which card is better than the other as you may see on you tube.

For example GTAV for me without frame caps GTAV runs between 89fps to 190fps & it was on this basis I knew I would get 60fps constant for a super smooth gameplay & long grass that does not stutter at HD resolution.

I personally chose this card as my basic starter card by watching a youtube video comparing resolutions using the 3600 CPU with different games & you are limited by your graphics card as you can run a RTX Titan (cough, cough, £2.5k pricing) with zero bottleneck so your processor is powerfull enough for any GPU you want since you have 6 cores & 12 logical processors in the chip.

I think you are limiting your system by buying a B450 mobo when only Gen 3 with X570 get you Pcie 4.0 m.2 speed of over 4,000mb/s which you can see, for a B450 I would of chosen a 2700X but if you used a 2700x on a X570 board you would not get Pcie 4.0 unlike using a 3600 CPU. - but that is my thoughts of your build & not that you mobo is bad of course.

You know you can get a Vega64, which would give high resolution also & don't forget about FreeSync & N-Sync monitor choices ? I personally think AMD GPU's seem to give a higher quality drawing as in the deepness & glossyness of the colours as I have compared GPU's from both makes.

A 1080Ti would be good enough & depends on the games you play compared to resolution ? what about the RTX2080Ti - plenty of power to keeps the fps high in them

    Thanks, some interesting ideas...

however after a lot, and I mean a lot of research and changes to the line up II went with.

trouble is, there are so many opposing reviews, which is why I came her for opinions, but it’s all done and put together this evening, so will see how it performs, but really appreciate your comments and will have a look at adrenaline software ......keep safe...

One problem I am experiencing is with the ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q 23.8 inch LED IPS 1ms Gaming Monitor - IPS Panel, Full HD 1080p, 1ms Response. Getting some motion blurring when game playing, currently using an HDMI lead, bit have ordered a display port lead.....not sure if that will help, or if I should go with a better make monitor or maybe a 1440 res any help would be appreciated thanks

DP to DP switches the input of a monitor to say it can carry the signal on a 4k monitor I found, as could only get 30hz on the display with HDMI until a DP to DP was purchased also.

Is the motion blur not an effect in the games you play (gtav has a motion blur setting for example) or is it blur with everything ?

I'm late, not sure if you ordered your monitor yet, but for a 2070 Super, I would go QHD (1440p) and with a 3700x. a 2060 is a nice pairing for 1080p with a 3600. Damn I've been away from this forum for a long time. Sorry for the bump.

Quad HD is what I like for GTAV as 4K is really not any better just thrashing your equipment.

The 3600 can run the RTX Titan with 0% Bottleneck & the 2070Super is a match for the £150 cheaper RX5700XT, either way all card will run over 60fps with 3600, anything higher is just overkill & alot more money like paying £50 more for the 3600X ? just for 200mhz higher clock ?!

There's actually a 3% bottleneck on a 2070 Super with a 3600. I'm a perfectionist. Furthermore, the 5700xt doesn't perform as well as a 2070 Super. 3% is little, but if you're OCD like me, it's too much. Also, a 3700x has 2 more cores and makes your system more future proof for future updates.

    QHD is 2560 × 1440, I'm taking into account 144hz. Who chooses a 2070 S for 60hz?

That 3% more powerfull CPU wise then when you get to RTX Titan it is 0% which is a proof of a powerfull 6 core 12 threaded cpu & no slouch for the money it costs.

As for 2070S being slightley more powerfull well I am not suckered & save £150 in fact I know I can get a almost new Vega64 for £355 & will not need anymore power for a long time.

Also what does it matter what hz you use the gpu for, it is up to the individual to decide, if I wanted to use a RTX Titan for 60hz full sync I would do so, there are no rules like the 10 commandments saying "thouh shall not use a really powerfull card for 60hz" - what a stupid thing to say really ?

3700X needs to drop in price & it's neither here nor there weather its better by much & overpriced I would buy the 2700X which matches the 3600 performance just for extra 2 cores 16 threads & close price.

Hi Lolts of interesting thoughts....the PC has been built now, so hopefully the choices weren’t too bad .....but the TUF monitor is going back, motion blur is evident on all,games.....quite happy to spend more on a monitor, just want good FPS and no blur.....The other issue is that apart from gaming, the main use of the PC, also want it to be suitable for programming, where colour is important.....

so difficult to make the correct choice.....so far most important are 144HZ, FULL HD, 24” display and low typically 1ms response time ( which needs to be default, not derived by changing settings etc ) get varying reports about how necessary GSync is, apparently it reduces response time ? Looked at so so many monitor reviews Asus, Acer, BenQ, Etc. Only remaining issue is the choice of monitor....so need some good ideas please

you should just stick to 60hz tv & use full sync as capping frames presserves cpu life, full sync is smooth with a 3600.
